Pacesetter Problems

I've got a set of pacesetter headers on my 3.4l (same block as 2.8) and none of my alternator brackets will fit anymore (the ones that were on the manifold I mean).. Is there anything I can do? I really don't want to put the manifolds back on after all that work. Will the bracket holding the alternator and the belt tensioner hold it and not break?

Re: Pacesetter Problems

Your alternator is on the passenger side right? I don't remember there being a bracket that bolted to the exhaust manifold, and if there was, I didn't have it on mine and it worked just fine.

Re: Pacesetter Problems

Yeah on mine the alternator bracket runs to the front left top of the UIM. But I never put it back on and have not hade any problems yet.

If you are really worried about it, you could just buy a threaded stud and add make it work. all you would need it a spacer in between the header flange and where the bracket is.

I don't even have that bracket on my engine but someone else did the 3.4 swap, even without the bracket it seems pretty strong.

Re: Pacesetter Problems

well just to be safe, I took of the headers and put the manifolds back on. My dad and I are going to make spacers for them sometime and get them to fit like the manifolds do.

Swaps done also, SO MUCH TORQUE!

Re: Pacesetter Problems

I left the bracket off when i put mine on back in 05, never had a problem yet. I wouldnt waste the time w/ spacers and all that, just put em on, bolt the rest of the alternator back up and forget that bracket was ever there. you wont have any problems.
