I have a 90 firebird with a 3.1 in it. My wiring harness caught on fire and shorted out. I've repaired all the wires but the car still doesn't run right. With a scanner hooked up everything seems fine. I think the short may have taken out the ecm. I can't find a 90-91 fb or camaro to take one out of. Is there any other car I could take an ecm out of.

I believe you can buy new ECM's from summit, jegs or some place like that. And they sell them for not too bad a price, and its new! Tomp or Ked I think know more about this and where they are on the site.

OK, all I'll suggest is to call the local yards for this part.
I DO NOT know the exact ECM's you can "use/swap" for your exact model.
Those words are correct, "Exact Model".
I assume you have a Camaro or a Firebird, 49 state (not a CA car), V-6, Auto, AC?
Call around .
After they give you a yes or no, ask them to suggest any other model options.
IN MY CASE, I used a ECM from a V-8 car.
I only need to swap the proms, from my V-6 into the V-8 ECM.
Worked perfect for me!
I would suggest, possibly biting the bullet & also buy that donor car wiring harness, too.
