Here we go ( Rod Bearing Replacement )
Got a rod knock in the good ole V6. Going to see if some rod bearings with fix her up. Will be getting under the car today to get a look see, hoping to take the oil pan off and swap the bearings. Camaro beats the Mercedes's 8 MPG so I need to get it fixed. That and it brings me to tears to see it sit.

1/1000 times you can just swap the bearing and be ok... the rest of the time it will spin again within a day or 2.

take pictures if the crank journal and the rod so we can see how bad it is.
if and i mean if u are super lucky u can get a strip of emery cloth and poilish off the crank journal and slide a new bearing in place. and even after that it has to be babied big time or it will spin it again

Since you're going to have to get a hoist and lift the engine up and off of the mounts anyways to get the oil pan out, you might as well do it right with a new rod (and crank kit if the journal is FUBARed). When the bearing spins out of the journal, the crank rides on the rod journal, widening it by grinding on it. Which means a new bearing isn't going to sit tight like it's supposed to and will spin again eventually.

u dont need to lift the motor to remove the oil pan, u can rotate the crank in small steps to remove the pan
