I question about the quad cam 3.4

For some reason I keep coming back to this motor. I forget the years it was available in the Lumina(Help here?) I keep looking at it cause the things really hauled. I already know that people say they cannot e swapped in, But I want to find one in a yard and compare the N-S 3.4 to the quad. I have looked at a few from under the car(s) and they seem to have the motor mounts about in the same spots. The block is a 60* so no tranny conflicts. And if I am not mistaken they had around 200/over 200 trq?. Figure get ahold of crower and have them make some custom cams and your looking at a real beast of a V6.

I just looked in my Haynes manual that covers 1995-2000 models . it shows that they were made in 95,96,and 97. They of course used a timing belt instead of a chain. From what I have read they do produce more power than the 3.1 , but not enough to offset the cost in repairs compared to the non DOHC engine. The 3.1 is actually more dependable.
I had my 3.1 Lumina in the garage tonite changing the thermostat (pain in the A$$). The one problem I could see converting it to a RWD engine is the intake plenum has to be reversed or the opening would be facing the firewall ,another is the distributorless ignition I,m not sure how hard it would be to convert the car over. The valve covers are completely different I guess because of the aluminum heads.
Iguess if you could find a wreck Lumina and got all the electronics with the engine it could be done ,barring the motor supports would bolt up.
Hope this helps

When I did my 3.4 swap, I was offered one.
I found that pic in the haynes manual.
I saw how wide the cam covers are.
They will not fit, with the hood closed.
That stopped that idea, cold.
If ya got time & money ya can do anything.
I needed a pratical solution.
I didn't want to reinvent the horse drawing my cart.
BUT BUT BUT
That engine would look way cool in a 1930's Model T bucket, chromed engine valve covers and lakes pipes dragging the ground, with big & littles!
Tell me someone else knows what I just said!

Yeah I know what you talking about KED. Personally I'm lookling for a 1932 ( I'm going to swear) Ford 3 window duce to do a full custom job on and drop a 350 in it. It's been a dream of mine for many years. I even keep a modle of that I built of one on top of my monitor to keep the goal in focus. My only problem is finding one in the condition I'm looking for. i don't want to spen a crap load of money on one that has a body still intact. I'm just looking for the frame the rest will come off and be replaced with custom parts. The engine can be gone or siezed. The body can be rsuted through completly, becuase it is going to be replaced with a new one.

All I can find are half way completed projects for 2K or more.
