If I have to choose between tires...

Sumitomo HTRZ
Hankook HRII H405
Fusion ZRi
Falken Ziex ZE512

trying to keep the order under 2grand so these are my best choices. post up if you have any experience with any of them, or other suggestions

I've had three different Iroc's now and I've had different tires on all of them. I know from experience the Falkens you mentioned are crap. If possible go with Goodyear eagle F1's or eagle gsc's. They really make these cars handle the way they should. Other than that the other three tires I've never tried.

The HTRZ's are made by the company that owns Goodyear. I have had them for the last four years. Very good traction in the wet and dry.

Sure you're not talking about the AS430? It's somewhere between 410 and 440 treadcount, not exactly sure....but it's an AA-A tire also. Very well priced too. We sell a fair lot of them at work.

i also have the sumitomos.... only other tires i've tried on this car were the defenders that were on it when i got it and they were already half bald but i didnt dig them, the tomos are much better. and i got them cheap as hell, i paid about 330 shipped on ebay. havent had any trouble with them, other than they rarely squeal when i spin them? whats the deal on that lol? i can stomp it in first, spins all the way through first, you barely hear anything, but they still usually chirp when i shift. whats the crack lol

no i have 4.10s, they spin all the way through first, you can hear them spinning, sounds like when tires are really bald and you spin them. did the same thing when they were brand new, yet they still chirp when i shift. i dont get it lol

Some tires seem to make noise, some dont. Just like some smoke, some dont. The trend I tend to notice is tires that have a low ability to provide traction and hook-up, produce very low if any noise when spinning. And tires that are very gummy and hook up very well, will be louder when they DO spin.

My BFG traction T/a's on the stang have a very high tread-count, and are silent when spinning, and these tires have more than 75% of their treadlife still there. However, when I was running Cobra ZHP01's, Eagle HP Ultra Pluses, and other sticky soft-tires, they all made a substantial amount of noise til I balded them out.

When my mom got her Daewoo (yes, **** crap...) it had Yokohamas on it and after pry 30k (close to 50k total) that we drove it we switched to sumitomos, i dont remember the models of either (the car has been gone for some time now) but i can tell you that that car would handle damn good for what it was when it had those Yoko's on it, but with the sumitomos handling got dramaticaly worse. Sidewall flex was much greater which created a looser feeling, you could tell that it was sidewall roll, and ultimately it created ****-poor handling, not that it was a road race car or anything but i liked to drive it hard
If i had the choice between the two, i'd definately inquire upon the sidewall strength, that will make or break handling...

I would have to guess when the Kid drove his Mother's car and wore the others out doing burn outs. The new tires were the cheap ones and Not performance Sumitomos like the HTR Z II.
Yea, those cheap tires just won't stand up to the abuse he gives his MOM's car.

Actually, i didnt get the opportunity to drive it much (didnt hardly ever drive it anyways, unless my car had no gas)...i pry put 1k on it the entire time.... and yes i did do the occasional burnouts comming off a stop, and the burnouts goin around corners, but understand its R!ce...granted it had a 2.2dohc 4banger in it, which had "Okay" performance, it was better for fuel economy than smoke shows, so burnouts were limited to "squeeking" the tires, i maybe only once got smoke to come off the tires (wet road, corner burn...)
DJP, you're correct about the tires, i inqured about them on sears.com (where we got them) they were Sumitomo Sirixon4's, currently running $73 a pop. Yea, cheapies, but then again, so were the yoko's... and yes, my mommys car... then again at that during the time she had that, i had my '87 RS Camaro and later my '91 S10.. both of which i preferred over the R!ce rod, but hey, if i needed gas and she offered her car i took it pry 1/3 the time..

Oh yeah, i didnt blow it up, unfortunately...my mom was actually TRYING to do any form of major damage she could because she owed 3times its value (bought it for 13ish and when we got rid of it it was worth like 4...)...she traded "up" for a 2002 explorer sport 2door 4x4 w/the 4.0 v6...that little thing has some giddy-up..all the way to its 94mph limiter...

Right now i could give a rats @$$ less if i ever see a Daewho ever again..they're a money pit... DO NOT GET ONE!!!!!!!! the thermostat went out on it once, what do one of those cost? 3-5bux at most parts stores right? Wrong. 96 DOLLARS!!!!! thats not a typo, and there is one dealership in the STATE that you could get one....otherwise you was S.O.L. we also had problems with it throwing codes a LOT... SES light was on pry 20k miles all in all.... we had numerous problems, one right after the other.... i guess thats what she gets for buying R!CE!!!!
