I am thinking of going to a 245/50/16 instead of a 235/50 on my RS. I was told they would fit on my stock wheels and they wouldn't rub.

I want some TGO input before I go ahead with this..

Been running 245/50/16 for years, no issues.

245/50-16 is the stock sized 16" tire.

Only rubbing issues you could have, would be if your car originally came with 15"s & the steering stops in the steering box. For the 16" wheels, the steering boxes had different stops built in than for 15" wheels, because of the different backspacing/offset of the wheels & tire width.

245/50r16 will work no problem. OP your thinking of a 235/55r16, which is standard on a lot of F bodys as well. Nothing wrong with a 235 either, its not like there is going to be any traction difference with the same tire with only 10mm width difference.

Well, 10 mm isn't much indeed. The 235's were more expensive than the 245's. Why, I don't know, but I'm leaning toward the 245's. I should check into 255's as well.

depending on your ride height and alignment, the tire may rub the plastic fender liner a little at full lock, but nothing major

245's can rub a little, like i said, depending on ride height and alignment specs at full lock. 255 can too

its nothing to be worried abotu though. and the 245/50 is a stock size for the car

I see no reason not to opt for the 245 directional tire. I have had my existing kumo tires catch puddled up water on the highway. I would call it hydroplaning. Probably due to the tread design, not the width. kumo is a low end tire. Not my preference.

I am gonna replace the khumo's with Michelin Riken Raptor ZR's. 245's. They should do.
