tire problems *i need help!*

I'm new to this stuff and was woundering why I'm having front end issues, I can't cut the wheel without a loud dragging (turns out my wheels rub the frame when I cut the wheel more than 1/2 of its limit. This is a real big problem in the city which is where I usually drive, I have stock tire size 245/50/16 all around and don't understand why they rub. Are there stock spacers that came for this reason that I might be missing. Also while I have your guys on hand, I have crazy bald front tires with sketchy wear patterns, inside are bald outside have little tread (replacing soon), is this a sign of suspension wearing down (hitting little bumps feels like I ran over a brick, its increadably stiff is this normal?

To sum up,
87 irocz stock rims
Are spacers stock?
Anyone else have similar probs?
What causes inner tire wear?
How can I check my suspension, what am I looking for? Specifically?
Also, why does my steering wheel hop around at lower speeds, it tries to tug out of my hands and my wheels feel like they hop when I back up?

I know its a lot of Q's but any help would be amazing, thanks

The factory 16" wheels have front and back specfific wheels, the fronts have more lip than the rears. Check that.

When is the last time the car was aligned? You need new tires, get an alignment at the same time. They should be able to tel you then if the front end has any slop.

Re: tire problems *i need help!*

When I got my 87 IROC with stock rims and tires they rubbed too. I learned they rub stock. And the tire wear thing look for ball joints, a arm bushing and the camber angle. Mine had the same where but I worked at a shop and had a hunter to use as I please. What I do to fix it nothing, don't turn lock to lock.

I remember seeing the front say front and back say back so I don't think its the lip thing, and my back tires are very old 10 years but have lots of tread and a bit of dry rot, could I potentially just get front tires (strapped for vaga) or would that not be a good idea? And can slop accur from sitting? because I bought the car after it sat for 6 years?

They rub stock, really? Are you sure yours didn't need an alignment as mine may from what I've heard, sounds like a pretty big screw up if that was normal. And will do, what am I looking for, for wear on bushings and ball joints? I have nothing to compair what they should look like and do to what they are. And I'm just afraid I'm gonna throw a tire from the rubbing, plus my wall to wall turning radius is in the tripple digits right now haha

on the stock 16" Iroc wheels, if you turn the wheels all the way they will rub, just a flaw in the suspension design of third gens

Haha yeah I'd call that a pretty sever flaw, will it cause any real damage to the tire? Any way to fix it? Spacers or thinner tires, its very problematic with where o drove, I halfto do a 5 point turn to get into my driveway everyday and in most parking spots. No Buenos.

Re: tire problems *i need help!*

*UPDATE*
Found put my issues stem from the previous owner cutting the front springs down 2 1/2 inchs. Can I use slightly thinner tires or wheel spacers to fix this?
