Anybody ever ran a 255/70r15?

Has anyone ever ran a 255/70r15? Just trying to figure out if they would fit or if they would rub.

Trying to get the most width I can, yet still be within the rules of a 70 or 75 series tire on the stock 15" wheel. Only problem I see is the height, 29" tire.

Thanks

PS: Yes I realize this is a truck tire size. This is for a dirt track application. Any other tire size recommendations would be appreciated. Has to be 70 or 75 series 15". "No truck, trick, high performance, or directional tires".

Re: Anybody ever ran a 255/70r15?

Sounds like I will either have to run a skinny tire or modify the front fenders. Hmmm

I have 275/60r17s on my 88, Id have to go down to a 200/70r15 to get near the same diameter with this rule. Not sure what Im going to have to do.

Anybody good at guessing a tire size by a picture?

For the most part, going taller profile makes the tread width narrower - it is just how tires are made to pass durability tests and real world applications.

29" is a really tall tire and would have a lot of sidewall rollover, plus it would drop the effective gear ratio about 12% vs stock 26" tires.

Re: Anybody ever ran a 255/70r15?

I have 295/50 15 on the back. Thats pretty wide. I have 265/50 15 on the front any wider and you have serious rubbing issues when you turn. Hope this helps.it will rub just alittle bit when you go all the way. But i have no rubbing issues in the back.
I know your running a stock car and you have rules on tire size. So cutting the wheel wells is not a pro lem,

Re: Anybody ever ran a 255/70r15?

Right now the car has some old 225/70r15s on the front mounted on some 84 z28 wheels. The rear has some old 215/75b15s mounted on some rallys just to move it around.

Going to try and find a 235/70r15 and see how it looks. Would still like to see how close a 255 or 245 would be.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that a 235/70r15 is almost max you can get on the front. Not much room for anything any taller. Atleast Im not going to push it. Going to run the 235/70
