New 17x9 GTA rims.
Hey everybody... Its been several years since I last posted on this site... Happy to be back... Any I noticed that Hawks thirdgen is selling the new 17x9 GTA reproduction rims
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/gt...-reproduction/
I was wondering how do they fit and look on a 3rd gen car with a 4th gen rear axle I know my stock GTA rims stick out about 2 inches per side and I don't care for the look... I would like to Run a 295 on those 17x9 GTA rims...

Do your math. These are wheels made to fit a 3rd Gen, so again they will stick out just like your old ones with the 4th Gen rear.

Re: New 17x9 GTA rims.
Well I want these wheels... Hopefully with 295 tires will look better than those 245 tires I have on there now.. I just feel that the 245 tires are somewhat skinny especially with the 4th gen rear.. I wonder wonder how 295s will look...
Edit.. Saw a camaro who had the same 17x9 GTA wheels on and a guy had chimed in And said these about the tire
"The wheel is 17x9 with +12 offset /5.5" backspacing. That means the extra inch of wheel is all to the inside. Also a 275 tire is +30mm wider than factory. Stuff most of that to the inside, and you could run into parts, such as the strut brackets.
Hence a small spacer."
I'm wondering them sitting in an extra inch would offset the tires sticking out a little to give it a more stockfish look??? Idk don't know much about back spacing and wheel figment...

Re: New 17x9 GTA rims.
Here's the math:
4th gen rear is 2" wider per side than the 3rd gen one.
With 9" wheels, 4.75" BS puts the tires flush with the wheel wells with a 3rd gen rear.
5.5" BS brings them in 0.75".
2.00" (4th gen rear) - 0.75" = 1.25". This would be 1.25" sticking outside of the wheel wells out back.
4th gen rears really screw things up for wheel fitment as they require 2" more BS to put the wheels in the same position in the wheel wells. The only 2 options are 1) use 4th gen wheels with spacers up front. and 2) Custom wheels with different offsets front to rear.

Re: New 17x9 GTA rims.
Thank you Paul hyruk.. I can live with it being 1.25 sticking out and with 285/40/17 tires out back as suppose to 245/50/16 they should look pretty good in the back... I just really like the factory wheel design... I'm guessing my stock ws6 center caps should fit these new ones.....

I want these wheels in black so bad. But I need to put money in other areas of the car before wheels/tires.
