aluminium driveshaft

Not sure if that is spelled right, but the important thing is where do you find these, and how much do they generaly cost?

Thanks

check the classifieds, JamesC I think usually has one for sale for like 150 or so shipped.

the 4th gen ones work I think, so if you can find one off a 4th gen you can use that.

TPIS sells them for around $300 I think. But I would take Mo's advice and look for a used one or one off a 4th gen.

How much do the aluminum driveshafts help? Does anyone have any ET or RWHP numbers before and after the swap?

Its not a horsepower mod. It gets rid of the vibration at 80 MPH. And its cool.

www.ws6.com dynoed a before and after with his trans am, and there was a 2 HP gain, which is negligable.

Got mine from a yard for $100.00. I think I felt just a tiny SOTP increase..but my city gas milage went up from 19 to 20mpg. If you have time on your hands you can even polish them.

Car: 1972 Corvette
I got mine from James C off of the classified section here. $150 shipped. He shipped it quick too. Excellent service.

I had to have it for the ZF6 swap. The ZF yoke wouldn't fit on the steel shaft.

Yah, 82-2000 driveshafts are all interchangable, but I would not suggest putting a 4thgen into your 3rdgen. If your gonna spend the money, and really want to feel a difference, go aftermarket. I suggest TPIS, but thats because Im very partial to them...

YES, there is! The 3rd gen/LT1 JG1 aluminum D/S's are 2.75" diameter. The LS1 aluminum D/S is 3" diameter. Also the LS1 cost less than the 3rd gen/LT1 Aluminum D/S, yet will still bolt on without problems.
