Any good stroker short blocks out there(a reasonable price would be nice)

I was wondering if there are any companies out there that sell good 383s? I have also seen what is called a 427 which is I believe a sroker crank in a 400 but doubt that they have any of those premade at least for a decent price. Thats basically it. I would like to put a 383 probably roller in my car and just wondere what was out there. I have a roller 350 in the garage that I will probably just build the motor out of but was curious what was out there first. I would also be interested in what kind of parts I should use if I build my own. I do definately want to use quality parts that have been proven if I build it myself.

Thanks

Ben

Do you have that motor running? Has it been dynoed? What is the casting number on the heads you bought or are they aftermarket? Do you know how much that block/intearnals is supposed to be able to take power wise? Also, any other comments on this company or others would be appreciated.

Also, I was wondering if he has roller versions of the motors. I looked but didnt see anything. Does anyone know of anyone who makes roller short blocks?

i will get casting numbers later tonight. the one i got is a two bolt mains and i dont think they make rollers. they might that is something u might be able to call and figure out, talk to a guy named ken he is great to deal with and knows what he is doing. i heard somewhere that 2bolts will hold up to 500 hp so... havent put it in yet but am very very pleased with the looks of everything i just got it last week actually. funds are a little low and i need a tranny right now so i cant tell u how it performs but it is a premo job in my oppinion. i will get the casting numbers on the heads to later tonight.

Are you sure that on the heads it isnt 3998993? I couldnt find anything with 3998998. Did he say your compression would be 9.2 because if so then it would be the right chamber size for the 993s. Did he port the heads? I think I may just build it out of my 350 because it is a roller, and they used the same casting as I have for 4 bolts(even though mine is currently 2) so I should be able to have it converted to 4 bolt. How much did the heads cost you, and did he say whether they were supposed to be for leaded or unleaded gas? It is not a big hurry anyway, since I have a mild 350 I just finnished and am putting in the car. I figure I will run it while I am building the other one which will take me a while because I want to use high quality parts and heads(afr's if I can afford). I think I should be able to make at least 300-350 hp(dd2000 shows over 390hp) with my current 350 so it should hold me over for a while. What kind of exhaust are you going to run? Sounds like you have a motor with a lot of potential. If I do end up buying something from them I might go w/ the 377 instead though. Thanks for the info.

yeah you were right on the heads. i dont have much money being a college student so i went the cheap route but like i said i am very pleased with their work so far. the heads were only 400 assembled for both so i couldnt pass that up. granted they arent the best but for the money i thought they are a good deal. better than stock. there arent ported i dont want to do that just yet for fear of recking something. i am very paranoid. but i am pleased i should have opted for the 377 as well but the 383 will do me just fine

GM has a 383 stroker crate motor. I think it's a short block. Check out the GM Performance Parts Online Catalog.

I just checked the catalog. Take a look at GM p/n 12498332.

It looks like the have some good stuff. What exactly did you get from them and how is it working out. Did you dyno it or have times?

Thanks
