Pro-Topline Vortec Heads
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33617
I just bought a pair, anyone have any info on these? They looked pretty good and I was tired of "saying" I was gonna buy a set of heads. How should I go about getting parts for the valvetrain? Or should I just buy the kit offered in the auction as well?
They'll be going on a 355, hopefully these heads will be good enough that I can hit 350 RWHP no problem with an Edelbrock Performer RPM maniford. I'm not sure on the carb or cam though. Should I use a 650CFM carb? Someone told me 750 is too much.

those are the same heads I have going on my 383. My machanic swears by them. They are better than gm vortecs for roughly the same price. I haven't heard anyone have anything bad to say about them either.

Yea, It seemed that when considering my budget constraints, it was either Sportsman II's or Vortecs. These should flow better then stock L31s, and they should be more durable. Was kinda hoping more people would have something to say about these.

I bought them and as far as I am concerned they are the best bang for the buck. Be sure to use some sealer arond the screw in rocker studs or you will have mysterious vacumm leaks. I think they are one of the best street heads going. Casting quality is next to perfect and there is plenty of meat if your the kind of guy that can't leave well enough alone. As for valve-train parts. I used stock vortec valve seals, Manley pro-flow undercut valves, Crane screw in rocker studs, comp springs that are recomended for the XR269 cam grind( the seats have to be widened for this), K-motion chromoly retainers and keeps. To top it all of I use some comp cam roller tip self aligning rockers.

Well HITHERE picked up HITHERE set of Pro Topline Lighnings. HITHERE've been looking at Pro heads for about 8 months now. They have the best casting quality, tonnes of extra meet for porting. And there is enough independant flow comparisons against other heads, and they own the hell out of most out of the box heads going.
So, HITHERE would think you made yourself HITHERE good purchase there.

I am the customer who stated I got more than I payed for. If you are having trouble picking out components for your heads drop alex a line he will set you up. The guy is great to work with.

Yea, I'll probably buy his valvetrain kit for like 215$, I just don't have the extra 215$ on me right now. They should be in today, I'm anxious to see the flow charts on them.

I know this is probably kinda out there, but a guy on the Monte board had some problems with these heads. He went to bolt them on and the entire two top rows of head bolts wouldn't go in. The hole for the bolts shifted halfway. Thats the only bad thing I've heard thus far though.

Hmmm. That's really odd. Maybe they were bad castings? I checked the progress of my engine yesterday, the heads were on and fit beautifully.

Well, the engine is in and running very strong. These heads definetely flow nicely. I can't wait to get her fully broken in and take her to redline!!!
