Accel wire assembly?
Accel wire assembly?
I just purchased a set of Accel Super Stock universal fit wires...they are the ones you have to cut and assemble yourself. The problem I am having is how the heck do you get the boots onto the wires! Is there a trick to it?

The first do-it-your self one is the most fun
What works best is to wet the wire with a little silivia (water works too) and a little on the inside of the boot, then work the wire through. There is technique involved, and it has mostly to do with the colorful array of words thrown at the boot while dancing around wour garage working on eight hernias at once.
Put the connector on the wire after having put the boot through. Remember to cut the wire to the desired length before attempting to slide (I use the term loosely) the boot on to the wire. The accel crimping tool sucks, the MSD one is far superior. It might help to get hold of one as they are much easier and faster to use, with both a cutting guide and a crimper that stays together when under compression in a vice.
When you have finished, you will know true frustration, but it looks much better if you run the wires right with no slack at all. Another hint: cut the wires about 2 inches longer than you think you need. It is easier to trim a wire than to grow it out
