You may take a lot of heat for this question but if you search this board and the appearance board you will find where it has been discussed before.

The rest of you play nice so I don’t have to close this.

the clear taillights only look good on certain paintjobs and they only look good in the 82-84 Z28 taillights...

but the red bits in the clear lights make them look horrible on anything

Sounds like "rice" treatment being added to an american car. Ok, I'm going to stop now before this gets ugly.

I'm actually hoping someone will come out with clear taillight lenses, cuz I want to paint them black. I've never really liked 'blackout' covers because the smooth, shiny appearance kinda looks out of place. I think clear, segmented lenses which have been painted black would look better.

Mind ya, that's only my personal pref, and I'm not qualified to tell anyone else how their car should look.

Btw, I've ordered some clear side-marker lenses from ProCarParts.com. I'm going to use these to experiment with spray-on 'blackout' and high-intensity bulbs to see if I can make it look the way I want and make it legal too. If this works out, then the search for clear taillight lenses will begin in earnest.

why wait for clear tailights to come out to paint them black? just do it to the ones you already have right now...

do whatever you want to your car. I personally do not like them, but hey, they're not going on my car. It IS your car

DON'T Do IT!!!

I guess you can do whatever you want to your car but those clear lights will NEVER find a home on my 3rdGen.

American cars just look better with the stock lights. Clear lights are for Ricers. If you do a search on the term ***** on this board you will find that the term is not one of endearment...

Good Luck with your ride!

i'd rather take a bullet in the head than have ***** lights on my car.. hell. i dont even know if they make em for trans ams

the moral of the story is... don't do it... unless you are willing to endure mass public ridicule... they just look bad on anything american... speaking of anything american (a bit off topic)... i've discovered that the factory GTA rims were made in Japan.. what the hell is up with that?

Your about a year too late. Someone tried making them abotu a year ago, and everyone(including yours truly) gave him hell for it. He coudlnt find anyone to help him, so it fell apart. He finaly gave up not to long ago. It will never happen. If this red neck moniker had one positive thing, its keeping away the euro lights. There is ZERO demand for it. Maybe a few... probably under 100. Not enuff for someone to make money off it.

Have you guys seen the export Thirdgen tail lights for our cars? They look pretty good I think. The only difference between those and the US versions are, the Amber is on the outside instead of in the middle. I'll try to dig up a pic.

KOOL!

I think having the Amber on the Outboard of the other lights would look great. If you have a pic of this please share!

one more of the Euro spec thirdgen.

at least one set of fourth gen clear tail lights exist, because i've seen them on a Camaro here. Didn't personaly think they were that bad, but not what i'd buy.

OK it's diffrent but I'm not sure it's better.

Think I'll stick with the standard Grid Lights...

Yea, I'm perfectly happy with my stock taillights!

But I posted a couple alternatives above (both euro styles) for those who are bored with the stockers.

Just curious.

There may not be enough demand to make a lot of money, but that doesn't equate to 'No Demand'. C'mon Al... You're not adding anything of value to the clear tail light threads. Nobody cares whether or not you like the idea. Stop hi-jacking them already...

Umm... Not true Al and you know it!! Btw, being open to seeing other-than-stock tails does not equal r i c e ! ! Have a look at my car... There's nothing r i c e about it!

i remember seeing a camaro pic on here with clear tl's . Who cares who likes them, its your car do what you wish. You should see this iroc by my house, the guy put the huge aluminum wing on the back, he has 10000000 stickers, even the fnf girl or angel (whatever it was from the movie on the car) on the side of his car. Now NO ONE likes his car, everyone laughs at him when he drives it, but HE likes it. And hes happy with it. I think the clear lites would look better on white cars then black ones. If i find the pic ill post it.

Now I will agree that the clear lights are... umm... you know....
but I did see something I liked not too long ago. Someone kept the whole thing stock, except for the amber. He turned it white, just like the backup lights, so all he has is red and white. I Think it looked good anyway.

i saw a catolog that sells the clear crappers for 3rd gen ta's but not camaro's. i think if you put clears on it some1 would smash them out of anger anyways. ive also seen the clear and carbon style for the 4th gen camaro...they are terrible. they dont even fit right around the edges, much smaller then the stock lights. all the aftermarket for lights is terrible anyways, why the hell would you want to change them? just another reason to get pulled over.
