The simulators arre for OBD2 cars, it replaces the 02 sensor after the cat(I think I got the locations right) They won't do you any good on your 84. That 02 sensor is about as primative as the computer. Which leads me to my next question, why does your 84 have a oxygen sensor? Is is computer controlled carb?

But unless there is something I am not aware of, the simulators won't do you any good.

You can put the oxygen sensor in the headers, and you should especially if you have a computer.

yes i have a computer controlled quadrajet on my 305.....well see the problem is that my O2 sensor wire got melted against my engine like right at the connection......my car seems to run rich so thats what i think the problem is....so i tired fixing the problem by soldering in a piece of wire where that connector was....well the wire types were obviously different and i dont think it did me any good....so i need to figure out something to do....and i really dont feel like running the entire O2 sensor wire all the way from the computer....

Do you have emissions to worry about? If not, ditch the CC carb and distributor and put a regular carb and dizzy on...

Why?

Because you obviously don't understand how the sensors work for the computer and that ghetto-rigging the wiring isn't good for it...Isn't that o2 sensor like $25 or so? Plus a few more for getting the wire fixed? Get a connector from a junkyard and go...

If you keep the computer, you need the sensors to work...it is that simple.

i will have emmissions to worry bout soon enough and besides i heard that once you get these carbs tuned right it will run really good and reliable....so thats what i was shooting for...

Just check your wire and replace the oxygen sensor, it was more than likely damaged when the wire was burned. Some things were meant to be repaired, not modified. Besides, not only would any simulator likely cost twice as much as a new sensor, but your car still won't run right. If you replace the sensor and still have problems, try posting on the carb board.

I think this is funny because a mustang guy I met in Rawlins Wyoming has a late model mustang or cobra with OBDII and he says if he dont leave the simulators on the front O2 sensors that the car "wont run right" and that "Dallas Mustang" told him thats the way they go when he bought them from them. He eliminated the cats the front O2's are the ones before the cats normally LOL he wont even listen to me.
