Opinions for Engine Mounts

Right board?--->I'm going to replace my motor mounts, among other parts, but I was wondering what is out there and what would be best. Got the 305 TBI in there now, but might swap to TPI or 350 w/ TPI in the future. Either displacement would be a small block, would that matter in mount selection? Prolly won't ever get above 300 hp... feel free to drop in your $0.02. Thanks-Efrain.

You could go with stock style from NAPA, "clamshell" or a lot of people go with poly mounts from here for example: http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1363 good luck

i bought energy suspension motor mounts. u have to drill out the rivits in the clam shell to put em in. i think they look cool. they are polyurethan so they will last. the motor has very little movement now, i am happy with them.

Just set the motor donw in there and then wrap some tow chain around the block 2-3 times and weld it down. Just pray for no valve cover leaks.

Still catching up to the board lingo. IMP=? What makes the prothane better? Thanks, Efrain.

I would stick with the factory mounts. The only reason being they work just fine for the least amount of money. I reused the mounts from my LG4 when I swapped it out for a 408 SBC. With 110K miles on them, they were/are still in fine working order. Also, I've seen claims that some aftermarket mounts change the height of the engine, sometimes causing clearance problems when you go to install long tube headers.

i used energy suspension mounts and they raised my motor.....

oh yea long tube headers were an 8 hour session of grinding on the crossmember to get them to fit. Now i have to weld in plates on the crossmember to plate it up for strength.

but the motor doesn't move much now.

oops, meant to put IMO, or in my opinion. They fit better than energy suspension from what I can tell others have said. Energy suspension seems to cause some added vibrations with their tranny mount and their motor mounts seem to raise the engine way too much over stock. Also, with suspension parts, the prothane won't squeek as much.
