What SFC's does everyone have?

I am looking to get a set, but I want to hear what you guys have, what fits best, etc. I have heard that some don't fit that well with the dual cats sometimes. I don't kow how much truth there is to that, but I am curious. I want to avoid any stress cracks in the roof pillar area, epecially since I am getting paint job in the spring.

Alston's fit great with dual cats. Search the Chassis/Suspenion/Brakes board for more info, this topic comes up all the time.

I've put in a few, the Jegsters are the best so far as long as you get the bolt in version, bolt them in, then weld them in.

SouthSide Machine SFC's are the best. These, along with the Spohn and Global West SFC's are the only ones that get welded along the rocker panel to further stiffen the body and not just connect the front and rear sub-frames. Being made out of rectangular tubing also makes them great jacking points.

Nope, I don't have dual cats, but I know somebody with a '91 Formula 350 with dual cats that does have the SSM SFC's. The Spohn's will only half-fit. The long pieces that run along the rocker panels will fit, but the right-side brace going from the SFC to the tranny tunnel probably won't fit, sometimes even on single-cat cars. That's about the only difference, except that the Spohn SFC's are powdercoated and the SSM's are bare (paint to match your car if you want).

Spohn has two versions: single cat and dual cat. The dual cat version has the piece for the rail to the trans tunnel not attached to be able to weld it in to clear the cats.

Also, powder coating is extra $$.

So will the SSM's fit with my dual cats? If not, what must be done?

The AIR tubes to the converters may have to be relocated and rewelded. They may also have to notch the SFC.

The SSM will NOT work with dual cats, not even close, I know from experience.

Get the Spohn dual cat version, they fit perfectly on my car and made a night and day difference, I'm VERY happy with them!

Spohn's fit awesome, I have them on my car.

Just my opinion though.

The kenny brown super subframes also weld along the pinch paneling underneath the rocker panels and make it a "full frame". They are also made of tubular steel which i feel is stronger

Formula9 I have factory dual cats and the SSM weren't even close to fitting, I sent them back to Summit.

Maybe you have an aftermarket dual cat y-pipe but the stock one no way will they fit.

A friend of mine had them put on a '91 Formula 350 and a '92 Z28 5.7L both with dual cats and the exhuast had to be modded both times.

Alston's here too. Got them on a group purchase a few years ago. Everyone has been having problems with the bolt holes getting loose but I have yet to feel any play in either of mine. I'll weld them this spring when I have to install my LCA relocation brackets and weld the axle tubes to the carrier housing. It's all good though. Any SFC is better than none.

I agree with Greg Westphal. The SSM and others that are welded along the rocker panel are much better. I have SSM, they didn't fit my SLP y-pipe and single cat. I had to cut out and reweld a small piece but after that they fit fine.

I have a brand new set of SSM Lift bars complete with non fitting SFCs that interfere with my dual cats(92 Z28 L98). It required modifying the cat or the SFC and neither I was willing to do, went with Alston SFCs and had no problems what so ever. Anyone want a complete SSM Lift Bar Kit for a good price?
