Summit shorty headers?

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

anyone ever use these? i'm looking to spend as little as possible on some headers as long as i can have them fit my factory y-pipe. if they look like the ones in the pic then i should be able to make a pipe between the headers and the y-pipe to make it work right?

only thing i dont know off the top of my head is if my y-pipe is 2.5" at both collectors.

I have the L98 and dual cat y-pipe. dont know if its 2.25 or 2.5" up front.

i just want to do that and hook it up to my gutted y-pipe and flowmaster thats already on the car.

I'm not looking for performance, just a little smoother flow and some sound.

i think those are jsut hooker 2055s. i think....summit just takes brand named parts, puts their name on it and sells it for less. look at summitracing.com and tipe in HOK-2055 and compare the difference

Definitely not the Hookers. The 2055s have 1 5/8" primary tubes instead of 1 1/2", a 2-bolt ball flange instead of a 3-bolt flat flange, and they come with a Y-pipe.

The Summit headers are the same as the cheap Flowtechs. Don't waste your time or money. They fit terrible, have horrible build quality and will not work with your stock y-pipe. You will have to fab your own or buy their equally crappy y-pipe which is about 2% better than the stock y-pipe. Try a few searches about Flowtech/Summit headers. I have had them and in the end they cost me more money and time (because you need bolts, quality gaskets, drill the 02 bung, ect ect) than if I had started with a set of SLP, Hooker 2055's or Headmans.

The above statement is true, try not to cut corners with modifying your ride. Buying something with better quality is always better especially if you plan to keep the car and it will save you MONEY in the long run. Save up and get some good headers and y pipe and I guarantee you will be happier.

I bought some of those headers, and there was hole in the weld where the pipes meet the collector, and the welding inside the collector was messy, but you get what you pay for i guess.

I put the summit shorty headers on my new rebuilt 350 and they sealed great and everything looks good with them, no leaks anywhere. The only thing I don't like was that the black paint burnt off while breaking the cam in, so they'll probably rust quick, but hey thats pretty much any painted headers problem!
