Another case of bad Accel 24 lb injectors?? maybe maybe not
Friend told me his injectors worked fine but only ran the car for about a month or so before he tore it apart for a different motor/setup. my stock injectors died out so i said let me try yours
these are the older version of 24lb'ers...the single spray nozzle. black body with yellow tops.
My car now runs worse than ever. it feels no faster than my dads 03 v6 impala. It sounds like poop. I believe its running pig rich but its hard to say as it doesnt really smell that bad. I've set the injector constant from 24 all the way to 26 so far and it doesnt really change how it runs. its still HORRIBLE.
They did ohm out all the same and within spec when they were cold. I have yet to test it warm since its been raining i havent had time to take the car out. I'm alittle dissapointed in myself for trying these after seeing countless negative reviews. But i wanted a set for this weekend to take it to the track but now i'm not going. My car ran better on 6-7 stock injectors haha. atleast 1 is completely shot and one injector ohms out poorly once hot but ok when cold so its on its way out as well.
I'm gonna raise the injector constant to 28 to see if it changes. I was thinkin maybe these were 26 lbs and were labeled as 24. but i'm only running like 48-50 psi fuel pressure so 26 should have made it run fine.

Re: Another case of bad Accel 24 lb injectors
OK i want to update this as its necessary
Today i took the car out for a ride with 26 lb injector constant and 50 psi and it seemed to run abit better than the 24-25 constants.
SO i decided to lower fuel pressure down to about 46psi and ran the car doing some datalogging. the car picked up and started running better with less backfiring and such. Datalogs were showing a good deal LEAN to my surprise. So i adjusted the constant back to 24.7 or so because i'm running abit higher fuel pressure than those injectors are rated at. The car seems to run goooood now... like strong! I cant believe it! I did add some fresh 93 octane gas but thats it.
I want to believe these injectors dont like higher fuel pressure, or maybe there was some junk built up inside the injectors and it needed time to clean out. I dont know but so far these things seem to run fine now!
Track tommorrow i believe so i'll see if my times change

thats what it is lookin like. i have 46 psi now at WOT and its running fine. it didnt like 50, no matter how i tuned the fuel inputs.

If you had your initial pressure at 50 with these injectors there is no question that the car was running rich on a constant of 24. Doesnt sound like there was anything wrong with the injectors?

Re: Another case of bad Accel 24 lb injectors
if you read above, i've tried injector constants from 24 to 26 with NO change in performance. i was gonna try 27-28 but just turned down the fuel pressure as i've read they dont like high pressure and it turns out they dont. using simple formula to adjust the constant for the raise in fuel pressure, these injectors are rated at 44psi and i was running 48-50 which means the injector constant should now be set to 25.6. it didnt work
4psi made a big difference in performance and it was now running lean. so i started to tune it and found 24.25 works best so far.

Orr you should really get some LS1 injectors, better design, better spray pattern, and they don't protrude into your intake port as much. Just do the clip mod and they're a direct bolt in. I set my 28 pounders to 25 pound and ran the fuel pressure at 45/50 they've been great for me.

i'm gonna hold onto these for now... i plan to swap them out to ford injectors or LS1's. i have heard LS1 28 lbs are rated at like 58 psi making them more like 25 lb injectors at 46psi. i guess that will be fine and if i need abit more injector i'll crank the psi up some since the injectors can handle it and mynew fuel pump should handle it.

Re: Another case of bad Accel 24 lb injectors
I put in a Walbro 255lph pump and with the stock TPI regulator it put my fuel pressure at 45 and 50. The stock injectors ran fine on this and the LS1 injectors run even better. LS1 injectors are rated at 4 bar instead of 3 so the 28's flow out to around 25, there's a post on here where someone actually benched them and got the numbers. I wouldn't spend my money on the old style Ford injectors because of how cheap those LS1 injectors can be found. The newer engines like the LS2 have even bigger injectors but I'm not sure what sizes they are right off hand.

Where are you finding cheap LS1 injectors? I've been thinking about getting some Ford injectors.
