Those with Auto Xray and preferably an '87 car help me!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my Auto Xray ezlink scanner two days ago. I have a 87 Iroc L98. I also have Helms shop manual for my Camaro that lists the things a scanner should be able to read from my year car.
One of them is when the coolings fans should come on. My scanner lists nothing about any fans. Should it? Or did Auto Xray decide not to let the scanner look at the fans? I am haveing trouble with when my fans go on and would really like to see if the computer is commanding it on.

just to compare
'87 Iroc L98
scanner reads 41 things, Do yours read more for an '87 car?

John, I have the Auto Xray and it dosen't show when the fans come on. I would think the best way would be to let the car get up to temperature and check for a ground coming from the relay. I believe it is the green/white lead.....

John,

My Xray also does not have an "fan on" display. If you need to know when your fans are on, it's simple to wire a pair of LED's that will light only when the fan is on. I've done this (to name only a few) on my '87. Check out my website and if you want specifics, e-mail me.

Does 41 readings sound about right for my car? I just want to check because everytime I get something new there is something wrong with it but so far the scanner is good.

Guy, you have 2 cooling fans? This question is answered and asked so often that it should have it's own site.
The fans are controlled by a sensor in the pass side head. Under the plugs. That sensor sends a signal to the computer to turn the fans on at 239F.
Go to www.jegs.com and go into the GM EFI section. IN there you will find a JET fan switch which will turn on the fans. I had on in my 88 Formula. It turned the fans on at 200 and off at 185. A 180 degree stat is required. And make sure your airdamn is intact.
