Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
Not a gripe with them, just the product. I installed one of the outer window sweeps on my car today and the outside rubber (where it seals over the upper lip of the door) is just not long enough. It barely fits over the door lip, I feel fairly confident I will be taking it back off and running a bead of black urethane to provide a complete water tight seal.
All but one of the pre-drilled holes were off by at least 1/2" but I feel that is fair given this is not an OEM product. Provides excellent sweeping action and water removal otherwise.
7/10.

I ordered mine from thirdgenranch and they fit like a glove. All holes lined up and no custom fabing was required.

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
Thanks for the review, sorry to hear things weren't perfect. I have not come across the issue with not having a long enough lip, but the hole thing I have. In some cases, the factory holes were not drilled evenly when the original set was installed and causes some issue with the replacement units (usually easily solved by elongating the holes a little). If you still happen to have the old ones, if you could get some photos my way, I'd like to look into this issue a bit more. Thanks!

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
We got two sets of the outer window sweeps for the Camaro and the Firebird from 1A. First ones had shipping damage and 1A had new ones on the way the same day! Both replacement sets fit perfect, no hole alignment problems at all, good coverage on the exterior, lengths were fine. All the other weather stripping we have bought from 1A fit fine too.

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
Sorry to keep everyone hanging that is interested in my issue. Between my interior modifications and working in the salt mines I have had little time to get on here or mess with my car, and it's been really cold this week to boot.
Dan, the passenger side OEM sweep I removed was DOA when I replaced it, but the driver's side is good enough to where I think I can get some comparison pictures between it and the aftermarket one I got from you guys.
I will get some pictures for all to see this coming week as long as the overtime at work calms down. I am going to go over the sweep with a heat gun and see if I can get it to stretch enough to cover the door lip before I try a urethane bead.

Can the sweeps actually be put on the wrong way? Like, putting the driver's side on the passenger's side?

Looks good. I bought the inner sweeps from 1A and I thought the fit was great. If I had to do it again I would have bought the outer sweeps from you guys too. The GM sweeps were expensive and yours seem to fit nice.
Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
I also had no fitting issues on my 87. Used the outers and the inners attached to the top rails, which look perfect!
Will order some for the 88 when I get to that point. Thanks 1A!

Ordered mine from CamaroCentral because A1Auto on ebay states no shipping to Hawaii.
They fit perfect just had to stretch one hole a bit.

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
I took the passenger outer sweep off, and hit it with the heat gun. I was able to stretch the rubber enough to get it to fit over the door lip. Maybe it was just giving me a hard time, because when I installed them it was probably 20 degrees outside
It is supposed to rain all weekend here and probably every weekend for the next 20 years but when I get a dry one I promise I'll get some shots of the driver side old/new sweeps.

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
Put these on yesterday.
Had to drill one hole in the drivers side and 3 in the passenger side.
The problem seems to be the factory screws are self taping screws. I don't think the holes where in the door until the worker installed them with self tapping screws. In other words I would bet no 2 are the same.
I am totally happy with them.

This is probably true. Installed mine yesterday, Had to drill 2 in the passenger and 1 in the driver. After I adjusted the window's, squeaks and moans went away, window works better than ever, door shuts almost like new and air noise went away completely. I know the sweeps didn't solve all of this, but I'm sure happy with them!

Luckily mine fit perfect. The headliner was a different story

Re: Outer Window Sweeps from 1AAuto
Installed the outer sweeps on my car recently. I didn't have any fitment issues related to hole alignment. My only critique, albeit minor, is that as mentioned before how the outer lip doesn't extend as far as the originals. Not by much, but enough to notice if you look closely. Other than that, they look and work great.
