Re: hawks hid kit?

Looks like a great way to blind oncoming traffic. Zenon bulbs should only be used with the proper projectors for a reason.

care to elaborate? I see what your talking about with the blinding but if that's a concern why would hawks sell this kit knowing it'll blind traffic?

Re: hawks hid kit?

to make money maybe?.... These housings dont even even have that middle piece to block the center of the light from the bulb and without it creates LOTS of glare... we all know your supposed to use Projectors but at least the cheap ebay housings are less dangerous and will still create glare but not nearly as much as Hawks kit.

Re: hawks hid kit?

^^ Exactly ^^

Looking at the product on their site I see no regulatory markings on the lens, so it has not been approved for usage anywhere in any form. The housing itself looks to be an H4 lamp which normally would have a e/E codes on the lens, possibly an SAE-M marking as well. Being based on an H4 also means that it has not been optimized for usage with an HID lamp source, which has a light source located differently and of a different shape than the H4 did, so the optics would be "blurry" at best.

And as an FYI, I would guestimat that 90% of the off road and fog lights available at most stores you walk into are not legal for use on the road. Walmart recentl;y had 1 legal set of lights out of the 15 they carried

This. Properly installed and aimed headlights do not cause problems.

Just because something can be done does not mean it should be done.

You can put a 1 bbl on a 502 and you can put a blower with dual quads on a Yugo.
Stupid idea, but as long as it doesn't effect others there really is no harm.

You can also set up your charcoal grill in your apartment to burn all your plastic bags and other trash
Once again, a stupid idea that most likely will have an affect on others.
The 'go outside if you don't like breathing poisonous fumes ' attitude doesn't and shouldn't fly.

How much do you like it when you are on a busy road and cannot pass the elderly couple in front of you that are doing half the posted speed limit?

Traffic Laws, regulations, standards etc are generally not created just to restrict what you can do because some bureaucrat came up with an idea. They are created to maximize the safety and efficiency for all.

This is the problem with today's society; too much "screw you its all about me". Driving is a privilege and not a right. You need to be considerate of others and hope that they are equally considerate of you.

For a statement like that, your driver license should be taken from you.

Re: hawks hid kit?

I also agree. I would not buy these. Though they are a bit pricey real projectors are the only real way to go. Here is where I am buying mine from. https://www.facebook.com/SkinnyBoyLighting
He does them all on his own, and there are plenty of options. Come with the projectors and HIDs.
