A little more info would be nice, so maybe we had a clue what you are trying to do and what you are using to do it?

Re: ALDLcable.com
sorry, had a few things going at once and i vaguely remember making this post lol. i am trying to fine tune my build and datalog it. i bought the cable from the listed website and i followed the instructions on it. i downloaded the driver software and i plugged in the cable. it came with several different programs to run the diagnostics and datalog on the CD, but those arent even noticing the car is on or the cable is plugged in.

Re: ALDLcable.com
I have the same cable from them. To get it to work on my car, I had to make sure the pin cover is on the two pins on the left.
It works fine with WinALDL. (Had to change the baud rate on WinALDL for it to see the cable).
I have never been able to get it to work with TTS Datamaster no matter how many times I try to connect and change stuff. I've already gone through about 8 of their 20 demos trying to get it to hook up.
Bottom line. The cable works well with WinALDL.

Windows 7 for me. I'm pretty sure I used to use it on Vista. But it's been a long time.

Re: ALDLcable.com
I tried that cable on my car a couple of weeks back. I did not have to use the jumper on the cable (remove it and store it someplace where you'll find it later).
Plug it into your USB port, connect it to the ALDL port on your car.
Note the COM Port in your Windows device manager, launch TunerPro (RT4 in my case), go into TunerPro's settings, adjust the COM port value there to the one you found earlier, click the connect button.
That's how it worked for me.
You'll need the correct bin for TunerPro, though.
If there's no COM port in the device manager, Windows may have been unable to install the right driver.
Also keep in mind that the cable contains a serial to USB converter, so it will not necessarily register as a USB device.

Re: ALDLcable.com
whenever i look in my device manager area, i pull up the USB's and it lists about 15 items (i dont have nearly that many usb's) and none of them say which com port or anything. i may wind up just trying to hijack my fiance's mac.

Re: ALDLcable.com
Don't look in the USB branch, look further up in "Ports (COM & LPT)".
If you can't see anything like it, go into the upper menu into "view" and select "show hidden devices".

Re: ALDLcable.com

Re: ALDLcable.com
Disconnect the cable from your computer. Look in Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT.) Make note of which COM Ports are listed. Then plug in the cable and go back to Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT) there should be an additional COM Port listed now. That will be the ALDL Cable. If there are no other ports listed then either the driver is corrupted or the cable is bad.
