What MSD wires and plugs to use.
Hey all,
I'm planning to buy a set of MSD 8.5 wires. Does anyone have suggestions about with set to use. A while back, someone mentioned something about getting the set full size chevy trucks because of the length and the fact that all the wires have right angle plugs. At this point, I don't mind if the wires go under or over the valve covers. If anybody knows the different part numbers, that would be great also. Is all 90 degree boots, the way to go? I plan to add SLP headers in the future. Thanks for your time.

Call summit and tell them what you have and they'll tell you what you need.

90 degees all the way around work great with headers, but the manifolds like the straights. The SLP's will touch straight boots and the manifolds MIGHT touch 90's. The 90's might work with manifolds if you go under them, but fry over the valve covers.
I don't have part #'s for MSD but let me tell you... I got the super conductors pre-fitted to the TPI and found they were TIGHT with my seperators. They lasted 8 months with my SLP 1-3/4" before the boots turned into a flaky rubber mess. They did not touch either and 3 are pretty cooked. I have no beef with MSD wires (I hate accells). Replacement boots for them are over $20.00 + shipping. It's not feasible to rebuild them although their wire quality is top notch. For a cheap alternitive try these wires (I have good luck with them and they last). Summit racing brand wires. They are 8mm, spiral core and only $31.95 a set! Part #'s
SUM-G825 is universal 90 boots
SUM-G926 is universal straight boots
They give you all the ends and coil wire plus a crimping tool! Thats better than that friggin' metal gismo accell gives ya to try to put the ends on.
They have custom fit wires but it doesn't tell you what ends are on them. It's a pain to shove that wire through the boot but i found vaseline (no jokes pleaz) works wonders!!!
