Auto X-Ray information??

I've been to the auto x-ray site and basically all it did was confuse me. I don'w want to plunk down the $450 for their new all encompassing unit, so I might buy a used 240 and turn it in to upgrade to the new one for $169, but right under that upgrade price, they have another $169 price to load the sofware into the new unit for GM, Chrystler, Ford and OBD II. So what the hell does the first $169 get me, a blank unit that I can't use?

the upgrade price will get you the new ezlink scanner with OBD1 crap on it alraedy or so they have told me when I called them. The other 169 is for the OBDII if you want that also.
