Confused about something

ok guys, i read alot posts talking about powerbands and such, and victor jr intake manifolds and when i look them up it says like 3000-7500rpm(hypothetical) what does this mean, it shouldn't be run under that or that is when it really gets up and goes??? what??? i also see cams like this and am thinking about getting a cam and possibly and intake manifold, but am torn about which ones to get because of this powerband crap, i like the victor jr because of what i have heard and prices, and am looking at a comp cams energizer cams but have no idea if this is what would i need, please help me out understanding this and guiding me to the right parts. also what kind of carb should i get, brand, cfm etc....

thanks

the powerband is where its going to be the best. for instance I have a cam in my 305 car that says 2000-6000, I've had to to 6500rpm several times, it still pulls but it does it best midrange of its "powerband" also I would get a holley carb and like a 215/215ish duration cam. just my opinion tough.
