MSD 6A Install
MSD 6A kit was that easy to install on ur thirdgen cars? I was just curious cause I probably am gonna buy it if we get this 10% discount from summit. I am looking to finish up my ignition and this is the last part for it.

last night I saw them install one on a 86 mustang, on hot rod tv. it looked pretty easy to me. If you know how to check timing you should be able to do it.

If you're going to waste the money on an MSD box at least get the 6AL so you have the rev limiter. Otherwise for the mods I saw you having you'll probably see no improvement. You're money is better spent on a good coil and wires.
The MSD 6A box I bought was the biggest waste of money I've spent.

No gain what so ever even? Not even with the current ignition modifcations and soon I am going to be running nitrous?

I'd be amazed if you saw anything from it. If you're going to run under 150 shot of nitrous I don't see any point. And if you're going to run a bigger shot you're going to want a better box then the 6A. You'll want something with a timing retard control.
The only people who seem to see an improvement with a 6A box is those with a completely stock ignition system and even then it's usually just a little easier starting or a slight increase in mileage. I've ran with and without the box at the track and saw identical track times. I even had it tested to make sure it was working, cause I saw no difference.
Just trying to save you a couple of bucks.

MSD HEI Timing Control Module. Wohoo!
And thanks, now I am having second thoughts.
What exactly is the MSD 6A box suppose to do?

It's just suppossed to provide you with a mulitple spark creating in theory a more powerful/effiecent burn. But unless you've got some monster engine it's not going to do much more for you then a good powerful coil.

msd 6al
well i installed the msd. it was very easy to install. easier than most things. i also got the wiring harness so i didn't have to cut up my wires. actually the hardest part was to find a space big enough for it and mount it. i only took it aroung the block. it started alittle easier and seem to have a bit better response but there is no place close to me where i can really open it up. by the look of things it may help but in retrospect i would probably spend the money on suspension upgrades.
