exhaust

I'm thinking about porting my TPI... cutting out the fins on the inside, polishing it, and the like. Use SLP runners, head job from my work (once I get the chance... :lala, and i'm sticking on some headers i'm buying from a co-worker this weekend (new spark plugs and wires while i'm at it). I already have a Flowmaster muffler w/ 3" outlets (btw: the headers have 3" outlets as well), but I was wondering, what would be the best exhaust system for my L98. I'm only expecting some mild mods for now... eventually, way eventually, a 383 stroker crank, lighter/better rods, lighter/better pistons, stepping up to 10(or 11):1 compression, and maybe a 100 or so shot of nitrous. As a stipulation, that exhaust system should still be sufficient to handle that setup as well. What do y'all think? My current thought is to go pure SLP... maybe even by their headers while i'm at it... or make it straight back dual exhaust w/ bullets... iunno, i was wanting your thoughts before I decide. Thanks

Hooker 3 inch cat back with an aerochamber muffler. Or if you have lot's of money a 3 1/2 inch Mufflex system.

Hooker, Flowmaster, or my favorite, MAC. Just don't waist your money on Edelbrock or Dynomax unless you like quiet cars.

i'd stay away from slp only because it's more money then they are worth, you can get the same or better results from other companies.

personally, i had a borla system when i bought the car; when i went to do some mild mods i threw it out for my now existing dynomax header setup with custom 3" exhaust, i have it exiting to a flowmaster 2 chamber with a single 3" outlet.......it takes a while to get use to the single out, but it flows alot better as well as gives a better tone(for those that want to be noticed); almost 10 horsepower more over the fake dual look that i had with the borla.

the exhaust setup, my custom intake that you can see in the latest intake thread an a 100 shot of N2O an hiting 12's was no problem, low 13's consistent.........this is also with street tires, but my suspension has been upgraded too though.

basically, cost me little over $3 grand to take my car which was tested at 14.4 when new and bring it down to the 12's with a stock engine, i can't complain at all

I bet that sounds sweet with a real 2 chamber Flowmaster. How much better does it sound than the 80 series fake duals that I have. I'm sure you've heard one, everybody has it.

I personally find Flowmaster has a great sound, but Borla is like chokin on a rod. I'd rather my car sound like a car, and not no diesel truck. True dual sounds f'n nice, esp w/ bullets, but the high-rpms just becomes really loud and droning. But why should i care? I've driven w/ dumps open on my 20th Anniv, and it sounded like a thunderstorm while racing. Anyways... yea. I'm doing the work very soon (hopefully), b/c i'm probably goin to pull the motor out to fix a valve tap that I have. :lala: happy happy me. i love using the valve tap excuse to do work on my cars

LOL!!! I agree on the Borla. Never heard any that I liked and $500 is ****ing rip for a straight pipe and a glass pack, cause that's basically what it is.

What about Random Technology cat-back? I wouldn't mind seeing some flow charts of RT, Hooker, Flowmaster, and some others if anyone has them
