Third Gen Resource - Problems

Two months ago I placed an order to Third Gen Resource for new headliner, sail panels, seat covers, door panels and carpet. All I have to show for my money is the headliner. Everytime I call these gals don't seem to know whats going on and tell me I gotta talk to a fella named Roy. No matter how many messages or emails I send they never seem to return my call. I'm thinking Roy is a ghost that really doesn't exist. Is this typical for this company or do they just hate me.

Man, I can't tell you how many posts I read just like this, I find it hard to believe that company is still in business.

I've also read a few supporting them, but the majority are having problems like you are.

Evidently they need to work on their customer service some..............

Best of luck getting your stuff tho.

Well Roy does exist but he was busy and couldn't take my call. I submitted a VISA charge back to Third Gen Resource and will spend a little more money on the same products from Classic Industries. Let this be a warning to the rest of you that might be considering Third Gen Resource for products. Not once did they return my calls for order status. Its been 8 weeks to the day.

I ordered new IROC center caps $60 and a TBI unit $30 from him through email. He sent the unit, but no centers. I emailed him back, and now he says that I was going to pay $100 for the TBI unit, thirdgenresource sucks! I could have got a unit at a car show for $15, don't do business with thirdgenresource.

Well if we're on the subject, I ordered a lower and upper fan shroud for a 92 Camaro with dual fans. Their website says they're 20 dollars a piece. I got charged EIGHTY TWO (82!) dollars AND they sent me piece for a single fan car !!! Now I have to return the stuff to them , but I can't get ahold of ANYBODY. I talked to Roy once, but it's been three weeks now and nothing happened. Needless to say this is the last time I will do business with them. I think Brad needs to remove them from this site as advertisers. They really are NO good :nono:

I finally got the center caps. I needed a set for '85-'87 IROC wheels. He sent 88-90, they won't fit.

I feel your pain. I've become a wary buyer because of this.

Yes they... suck.

Few years back (so no, this isn't a new development)... I ordered an SS hood from them as part of a GP. Few weeks go by.. they have my money.. I have no hood. I email them asking where its at... no reply. Try again... I get a reply from someone.. forget who.. but they said they would look into it and get back to me. Two weeks go by and I don't hear a thing.

So I email ASCD asking if they have any idea, and they cleared it up right away. Hood was back ordered... you'd think that the idiots I order it from would know that right away.

Never again will I buy from them after that lack of customer service after I ordered a $450 hood from them.

I suggest www.thirdgenparts.com for all your part needs. I have nothing but good to say about them.

This is interesting. When I lived in North Carolina one of my friends worked there and I never had any troubles at all with them. I am kinda curious if she is still working there I should try and get a hold of her to see what the hell the story is. Thanks for the info guys.

Well, I think I'm glad I read this. I'm thinking of ordering a wheel, from ThirdGen Resource, for my 87 Camaro.

I haven't had any problems with keeping in touch with Roy, but if there's going to be a problem with getting my order, someone's rear end will be in a sling, cause I don't have time for that crap.

Like I said, though, I haven't had any problems thus far, so I guess I'll see how everything goes 'fore I start complaining...

I met Roy at F-Body Gathering in Atlanta a few months ago, and he is a nice guy. I've ordered about $550 worth of stuff from him in the past few months, and only had a problem with one order. When I tried to order door panels, I told the girl on the phone that I wanted black cloth on the top and black carpet on the bottom (I have a black interior, obviously). And she says "You can't get cloth on the door panels." At least half the 3rd gen years have cloth on the top of the door panels, and it says right on their website that they can do cloth/carpet door panels. So after a few minutes of me telling her that they can do cloth door panels and her telling me that they can't, I hang up and decide to call back in a few minutes hoping I get someone else. Thankfully, I did get another person, and they let me order cloth/carpet door panels. I have an 87 IROC, which has a straight line dividing the cloth and carpet on the door panels, and they knew what year my car was, but they sent me later model door panels, that have the straight/slanted line dividing the sections. LottaBalls didn't mind them, so we ended up keeping them. Other than that, I've had good service and roughly two week delivery times.

With all the threads like this, and the problems everyone posts with them, I'm amazed they are still allowed to advertise here.

I think if a website promotes or allows a company like this to keep ripping people off and is fully aware of it by now then this site should take some of the crap for it or get thier banner off the site.Do they really support this site all that much?I dont know why people keep calling them for stuff.Thier service sucks, thier prices suck, and the fact that this roy fellow is such a "nice guy" means nothing unless you just want to be his friend and not by anything from them. Not to mention when they started the website they used this site to get peoples e-mails and started contacting us.If people would stop buying from them then they would only have the 5 people or whatever it is who have had good dealings with them.A start would be for this site to do away with the banner. The persons running this site are well aware of the problems,so whos fault is it.If you keep the banner there should be a check aftermarket vendors message board before ordering form these people right under the ad.STOP SUPPORTING AND BUYING FROM THESE PEOPLE,its that simple to us who know of thier problems.

Evan (Drkhorse) Ryane hasnt worked there in a long time. Her car got smashed, and she wasnt able to get around so she quit. Ive been down there and have ordered things from Roy several times with no issues at all. Im about to make another trip down there, and pick some more pieces I have to have ASAP!

firebirdpl Ive never seen speedo gears come with instructions... ever. Installation is simple enough as it is. Might be a little intemidating the first time, but not hard at all. Evan Ill shoot you an email ASAP, and tell you how much things have changed with me.
