Upgrade MAF SENSOR?

I have an 87 iroc 355 tpi proaction heads, zz4 cam, 1.5 roller rockers, hi-flo edelbrock intake, headers, injectors. I am making killer torque...no numbers yet. With good track conditions i ran a 14.18 at 96.77 mph..60 foot times best was 1.996, then i run out of power the last part of the track. I plan on doing runner and plenum and throttle body work next spring...maybe siamese. MY QUESTION IS CAN I GO WITH A LS1 MAF SENSOR or some other sensor besides mine...it is small and restrictive...even with screens and fins out i think i could use bigger. ANY IDEAS how to use a diff MAF SENSOR???

You can not use the LS1 Maf, its completely different. Do a search on the Wells Maf p/n SU-145.

I would think that you'd be running faster than that. That's not much faster than a stock L98. Hmmmm, but like you said, you're losing high end power.....

...Anyway, the runners/plenum/manifold are your restriction, not the MAF. Not at this point anyway. You can change over to the 91-92 speed density TPI which does away with the MAF, but like I said, I don't think that the MAF is the problem at this point.

your choking it with the intake setup.
if a stealth ram can gain 60 some horse on a stock L98, how much do you think you are losing?

The LS1's MAF measures air differently then the TPI set up. For just that reason alone you can not use it. You arent bringing that much air in that you need to improve the flow of the maf. taking the screans out and fins is now becoming more and more of a bad move then a good idea. The fins and screans are there for a reason. Leave them there till your putting 400rwhp down... then you can think about it. The Wells unit is about as high flow as your gunna get. And to tell you the truth, with thats done to your car, heads and cam... I wana know why your not deep into the 13's(there are near stock 350's and 305 5spds hitting low 14's)... Start looking into prom tuning... and dont buy a chip as that will do nothing. Port the stock plenum, maybe get better runners, and base if you wana keep the tpi set up. If not, The emissions friendly Super ram is your only choice. If you dont have to see the emissions fairy, then Its free range. Holley's Stealth ram, and the mini ram and the LT1 coverted intake is a good upgrade, the LT1 and HSR being the cheapest.

1/4 mile times

I think a 14.1 is a very good time, the time they say in the books are different from at a track...i ran head to head with a new Camaro SS with ramair. And they are supposed to run a 13.5 (ideal). I will be up grading my intake system...i am THINKING ABOUT SIAMESING IT WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF THAT????? I hope to get it to mid to low 13's with intake work and traction bars and street drags!! Let me know what u think about siamesing the intake and runners and such..thanks guys

stealth ram, less work, more power!
thunder racing, all you need is the fuel rails and the intake.

take one off, put one on.
do a search on the boards for the misc. fittings needed.
siamesing yours is only good for about 20 horse if memory serves me. (which it usually doesnt)
friend of mine has a 13 second 305, with all of the bolt on tpi upgrades (intake, runners, etc.) now he's switching to HSR.
