Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

I am looking for a Kenny Brown Strut Tower Brace for TPI. I've read that it will fit a 1990 Formula. I've searched for "Kenny Brown" using Google. The only things that I can find are for Mustangs. Where do I order them?

I've also looked at the Edelbrock 3-point brace. Unfortunately, it says not for use on a Formula. Does anyone know why? I don't know why the Formula hood would sit any lower than a regular Firebird hood.

I really want to stick with a 3-point brace.

Kenny Brown is not making the parts for our cars. He stop quite a few years ago so finding parts he made is next to impossble.

Try using a BMR 3-point STB. It should fit.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

The understanding is...The GTA hoods are different than the other Pontiac hoods & fit STBs better. I believe UMI says that their STB will fit Formulas.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

You can find that strut tower brace from Kenny Brown at Year One, I have their current Next Generation catalog and it has those as well as other Kenny Brown products. www.yearone.com. They also sell that Edelbrock brace you were talking about, however I never saw in their description that it would not fit the Formula. Should work just fine.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

We are 99.9% sure that our TPI brace will clear the all Pontiac hoods as long as your hood liner is removed or modified. We really saw no reason for a 3-Point brace... this is why ours in 2-Point.

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!

why does the discription on your page say
"Adjustable strut tower brace fits 87-92 Camaro and Firebird models with the TPI engine. It will not clear aftermarket intakes or runners and will not clear the GTA hood. "

if it clears all pontiac hoods?

Like I said, we are 99.9% sure at this time... as soon as we are 100% we will change the ad. We have tried it here at our facility and it works on a Formula with no issues... we have a member of this board trying it on his GTA as soon as he receives it in the mail. Once we know for certain all hoods are ok we will change our listing.

I know for sure the 3 point hp motorsports brace clears a formula hood. I have one on my car, great improvement in the feel of the car. PITA to install though.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

Doesnt the fact that the umi brace doesnt fit aftermarket maniflod or runners make it almost useless.Dont get me wrong.I like most of umi`s products and i`m running a few right now. However,I think most people will want to upgrade to aftermarket base and runners eventually.I just picked up a tpis base off of ebay and will soon order some slp runners.I guess the umi brace is a no go for me.

I didnt see a Kenny Brown STB on Year One.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

Part #SB33, $150.00 each. Fits 82-92 F-body models, 3-point STB. On page 210 of the first edition 2008 Next Generation catalog. If you cant find it on their website, try calling 1-800-932-7663. It is always possible they were discontinued, but they are in my catalog. I hope thats not a discontinued brand, I was hoping to use some of their products on my Z28.

I haven't heard of HP Motorsports. Where do I find them? I searched using Google and only came up with a phonebook listing.

I think what they mean is that it won't fit over something wild like a Stealth Ram or Super Ram.

there is their f-body stuff, nice pieces one fo the few companies making a completely fixed 3 point strut tower brace. It comes with spacer plates to clear different manifolds. I actually have two of them someone was selling a bunch of their stuff local a few years ago. I may modify it to clear my HSR on my camaro.

I ordered the black one, they sent me the chrome one, a little to 'bling' for me but it did look nice with the coated headers.

If you look at the pics it doesnt look like it will clear slp runners.Look how close it is to the passenger side stock runners.

So the hood liner is what was keeping it from fitting?

So far that is the only conclusion because they cleared our Formula just fine. We are testing a few other cars now to be 100% sure

Does your car have the hood liner still?

Looks like we have a WINNER! That brace looks perfect. Thank you for your help.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP!

One other question, though. I noticed some designs have the strut tower mounting plates welded to the brace, while others use rotating bushings. What is the advantage, if any, of one over the other.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

those bars with the joints still allow for some movement, that's why i went with a rigid setup. Also my bar is no where near the runners, it is midline with the throttle body top plate. It also has more spacer plates to elevate it higher. The only place it may have a problem with the pizza box (super ram) is where the rear bars come together on the firewall.

I managed to score a set of the Kenny Brown Double Diamond subframe connectors....Haven't gotten them on yet, but I sure like where & how they attach. I was able to hold them up under a buddies car on the lift & see how they fit. Nice!

Mine? Those are the Kenny Brown Double Diamonds....I've never heard of his SFCs referred to as "beginner style". His are some of, if not THE, first SFCs ever made & a better design than the simple 2-pt "sticks".

What they amount to are 2 sets of SFCs in one.

By beginner I just meant they looked (by picture quality and view) like some kid was starting his welding techniques...Im sure they are very good quality in person.

I looked at another camaro with these KB SFC's and wow, they really tie in the WHOLE underneath of the car. I'd say these ARE the best out there...but thats just M.O.

P.S. Found a set of KB's....for $300..WOOT WOOT, they are alot cleaner than the ones posted above, but its all good.

Re: Where Do I Order Kenny Brown?

I checked out Year one and they have Kenny Brown listed with pictures of the parts but no prices. So I decided to look at Kenny Browns web site (http://www.kennybrown.com/),
and it looks like there going to be making there parts again. Right now they only have a few parts for mustangs avaliable but hopefully they bring back the parts they made for our cars.

Still not installed....Leaning up against the wall in my car port, along with my other to-be-installed parts.

Weld-on SFCs aren't exactly a home installed part, since the car needs to be lifted and setting on its wheels & tires, suspension loaded, when welding them.

Now if I just afford a drive-on lift at home...
