As well as part numbers. This CD and a year-specific shop manual are indispensable, IMO.

I'm guessing it's not a simple process of burning one and sharing some valuable information on an obsolete car?

I would imagine that Mike has somehow protected it--and why wouldn't he? He's no doubt put in a lot of time and effort to make a few bucks.

Re: http://www.fbodycd.com/ ?
I've bit my tongue until now.. but i' wondering if the reason it's not available is because he got a letter from the lawyers at helm publishing, or whoever published the original book that somebody scanned the pictures from. There are copyrights to be considered

that's not saying I wouldn't love to have a digital copy, but I would bet there's a legal reason behind it not being available

Re: http://www.fbodycd.com/ ?
That legal disclaimer is a joke... you can't make copies of somebodies else's work, even you DON"T sell them... period.

there's nothing "fair use" about what he's doing. Fair use copyright protection involves take a very small amount of a work and using in very specific ways, like education.

If anybody wants to dispute that, bring it on, I've got years of copyright experience behind me. I was a church media director for years, and had to make sure that everything I did was on the legal up and up

that CD is nothing but a bootleg, and if he thinks his disclaimer gets him off the hook, he's drunk or stupid, or both.

So you're saying that it's against the law for anyone to make copies of the CD, including people on this site?

Re: http://www.fbodycd.com/ ?
YES! It's against the law to make copies of the book, so of course you can't make copies of pages scanned from the book.

there's an exception... if you OWN the original book, you are allowed to make a copy and transfer it to a different format. so scanning pages for personal use is allowed, but you have to own the original. It's just like if you own a CD you can rip it to your computer, but if you download a CD that soebody else owns, that's illegal

Let's not even talk about the legality of owning the original, and selling copies of it. That's EXACTLY what this guy is doing.

here's a link with more information on "fair use"

Re: http://www.fbodycd.com/ ?
first of all, I DOUBT that's a authorized reproduction. If it was, it would say give the authorization from the copyright holder, which is Helm Inc. I'd bet money it's a bootleg too.

Secondly, that's a service manual, very common.. I have two 85 service manuals and one 89. The assembly guide is much rarer

Re: http://www.fbodycd.com/ ?
those look more like the authorized versions that I use on my 58, so it's possible they are legal but it's hard to say

All of the exploded diagrams from the Parts and Illustration manuals are online at www.compnine.com Just look up the make and model of the car, then select the part type, and it shows the exploded diagrams.
