Just received an email from her tonight stating "now your not getting anything".Thats what you have to deal with people.Seems i was under the impression that she was legit, but if you send her money.She WILL NOT DELIVER YOUR PRODUCT & ONLY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND.I made the mistake of giving her $700 for seat cover.This was back on 6-8-09,yep over a year ago.Initially she told gave me a delivery date of OCT.Well oct came & went.Then she moved it up to nov/dec.Thats also came & went.So i contact her & she informs she is too sick to work! but still tells me she be able to start work on my cover in a couple weeks.I give her the benefit of the doubt & wait 2+, almost 3 weeks.Still nothing.This goes on for a while.Then shes in the hospital for surgery, after that she had to move.So no seat covers.After a year i gave up & decided a wanted my money back.She says, fine.I can give you $100 a week.Thats was 4 weeks ago & i have only one payment given so far.So im out $600.Dont make this mistake.Take your money & business to hawks or classic.Anywhere but her.I also have all the correspondense from one year back to "now your not getting anything"!

If you haven't already, start a case with Paypal. If she doesn't reply or give proof of shipment to you, they will do everything they can to recover any money they can from her. Unfortunately I don't think they can go past recovering whatever money she has in her Paypal account.

This really is a shame, to be honest I'm floored by what has happened. There is a lot of great reviews about her and her work on here, mind you that was a while ago. I ordered a shifter boot from her maybe 8 months ago, first to see what kinda workmanship went into her product and it is very nice. Communication was good and shipping was fast, so that's why I'm just floored. I haven't ordered anything else though and people change I guess. Hopefully thecovergirl will write something here and clear this up with you. Good luck and thanks for the heads up.

Well correspondense is one thing.I never had any problems contacting her either, but whenever i wanted an update to past due delivery of my seat cover.She ALWAYS had something else going on.If she was too sick to work, she was in the hospital, if that wasnt it.Then she was busy moving!All the while her website she says shes "swamped", but still ahead of schedule!!Seems once she has your MONEY she has no obligation do even start the work.Let alone deliver the product.

1st off I dont wana take sides on any of this @ all.
I have X G-friend that came down with crohn's disease.. it took a year plus 2 figure out what the heck was wrong w her and get her meds correct.
She almost died of it. its nasty. she has 2 go 2 hospital every 2months(??) and have her blood flushed out 4 a few hrs. She had 0 strength and lost over 50lbs in a month or 2. Like i said it was nasty..

Maybe she didnt deliver your seat covers when she said but IF she came down with this shes hurtn and struggln to get by.
You should have gotn your money back 4 sure tho..

Thats not what i see on her damn web site.She is ahead of schedule & gives a delivery date if you leave a deposit with her.No sooner did i pay her the funds that she suddenly tells me of her supposed illness.She had no right to lead me on, giving new delivery dates when she had no intention of making the seat covers.She should have "manned up" & told me about her inability to do the job & offered a refund, but instead she chose to lie a deceive.I gave her the benefit of the doubt long enough, but when she repeatedly told me she couldnt do the work for 12 months.Only to find out there a few members here who received their merchandise before mine, but ordered after, not to mention she is still giving a delivery date on her web site.I dont know of anyone who would have waited patiently as long as i did, but enough is enough.She had this coming, sick or not.

I'm not sure what all that info is, but I can tell you that's not where they live(d). I've been to their house and I know they did have a legit business at that time. I saw her upholstery work with my own eyes and it looked awesome. Like I told 1LE, maybe she's having some problems lately. I'm not taking sides here, just want to put what I know out there.

Sick or not $600 is a lot of money. Not to mention the OP is trying to finish his interior. If illness is the case them have a family member contact current "paid in full or deposited" customers and inform them what is really going on. Sounds like the OP waited more than a fair amount of time. And his paid money says he is due an explination and a full refund. No b.s.

"Do or not do, there is no try." Any legitimate business will either deliver on time or refund your money!!! Excuses just invite trouble. The thing busness operators need to know is that customers can be and are compassionate about trials and tribulations. The key thing however, is, as my wife states "Your problems are not my problems". End of story, no discussion, no arguement. Either deliver or refund fully!

If you have been paid for a service, can't deliver, can't pay......not my problem - that's yours and that's where, after the negotiation steps, the legal remedies kick in. I'm sure everyone here can attest to either having experienced or knowing someone who has been faced with missing a loan or mortgage payment at some point in their lives. Mercy and understanding are not in the banking vocabulary. To quote Stan Lee, "'Nuff Said".

I have dealt with Jim at birds and bowties and also with covergirl. The work she does is top notch. Both have had medical problems in recent months, to the point that they were trying to sell their businesses. They have no employees, they do all the work....from shipping/recieving to pulling parts off the cars. Last time i was there(b&b) she had a waiting list a mile long for jobs.

Im sorry you had a bad experience...maybe you could get in contact with jim at birdsandbowties and see if he cant figure out whats going on?

Everyone knows about the medical problems and whatnot. But if you can't do the work and the customer is impatient (not that waiting 12 months is impatient), then refund his money. She was paying him in payments of $100 then stopped and told him he is now getting nothing. I don't care how down on your luck you are, you cannot treat someone like that.

Yeah it seems they are being consistent at least. I just hope in all of this stuff they're selling that they will make it right with 84 1LE.

Sadly, the gulf coast is plaqued with auto industry related shops that specialize in ripping people off with subpar or unfinished work. That's why this doesn't come as much of a surprise to me. As I've said though, hopefully they will step up to the plate.

As has been mentioned, if a customer has paid in full, deliver the goods on time or refund. I'll even tolerate a small grace period, but the point has come and gone where the OP should have gotten his money back.

I have seen her post on here before why would she not post now? this makes no sense to me, she has a lot of satisfied customers you would think she would want to leave on good terms at least. Initially I was kind of skeptical of this story as there are so many good reviews of her and some people can be tougher to deal with than others, but I have seen 4 posts now from you about this and your story is the same everytime and with her not chiming in here it looks pretty obvious you are telling the truth. And nobody else has asked this but what the hell is up with paying $100 a week this is a business she (and no other business that I know of) would not say yeah you can take this just give me $100 a week. She has your money just give it back, she should owe you interest as she got a $700 loan from you, you should at least get something back for this. One other question though why did you pay her in full right away? I was under the impression you only had to give a deposit. I don't know what your plans are but she seems to be a real person and you can find a name and address I would take her to small claims court now and get as much as you can from her court costs, interest, time lost from work if any, you have been more than fair with her and a year is way to long to wait I don't care what the circumstance is.

Update 7-31-10, Just received the last $500 today.So covergirl has made good on this matter.Unfortunate it ended this way though.

First, let me say I NEVER had any beef with B&B,but her shop was listed on that website.So they are/were, whether he/she wanted to or not indirectly involved.Im sorry that their business is closing, but i seriously doubt my recent bashing had much(if any) thing to do with it.If i am partly responsible for this.I believe it could have been avoided.The response i received from BBB this morning included a hand written letter from her stating the business was closing, but that wasnt news to me.I found Jims thread on dragcoverage.Thats also where i got their address & ph#

Secondly, Id also like to add, i received correspondense from this person & she has stated i will be receiving my money (sat) via express mail.So apparently my efforts seem to have paid off.I notified serveral agencies including, 1c3.gov, ftc (consumer protection), & yes) BBB, among other online media.Personally i wanted to handle this thru email, but it didnt work out that way & once she told me (& im quoting)"now your not getting anything".It was open season as far as i was concerned & i felt i had little choice.Sometimes you have to be an A-hole.Regardless it looks like the matter is resolved.We'll see, live & learn


As for the matter of paying her in full(almost).I think that was my big mistake.If i had only given the $100 minimum.Maybe she would've had more incentive to complete the order or she'ld be out $650, but since i paid her $700, she only needed $50 more.Not too much to lose,unless of i cancel my order.Which is what i ended up doing, partly because i got laid off & was seroiusly considering selling my car & moving back to Texas.Plus i needed the cash.

Which brings me to another point.If you tell someone your gonna have their product in a certain date.Then mean it.If you cant deliver then say so.If you then agree to pay them back @ whatever amount per week, then mean that too.One thing a cant stand is when someone tells me one thing.Then contradicts themselves.Im pretty patient & can put up with alot of things, as long as its the truth.Once i feel im being lied to, then the gloves come off.I didnt enjoy doing what i did, but telling someone "now your not getting anything".Those are fighting words to me!

No i didnt call them.Even though i found their current# that same day.Once "those" words were said.Discussion was past the point.


Lastly, I appreciate everyones help & support.Also for putting up with my rants & remember!Dont give up your hard earned money too quick.If you cant get your money back.You can leave your feedback/reveiw/complaint somewhere.I contacted many forums, agencies, dug around & found web pages, yellow page listing & left feedback about her where possible.I also contacted the local media (fl) & left my complaint with their consumer advcoate reporter.Dont know what did what(other than BBB) since i received no response from anyone else, but ill know this saturday if it really worked.

i hate to tell you all, but shes not a ripoff i had to wait about 5 months for my seats and door panels i got them in as of last month so i can vouch for her. the seats and panels are amazing.
