UMI Performance
Ordered a Panhard bar for my IROC and it was here in 4 days, shipped out the same day. It came well wrapped and was very secure in the box.
Brad was helpful in helping me pick the right PHB for my driving/car and he posts on this forum sometimes too
I'll buy from them anyday

Not only are their products outstanding the tech support is amazing. When my mechanic installed by SFC and other parts they explained the full process on the proper way to install the SFCs and what he should do first.
It was funny watching him with torch in one hand and phone in the other.

Re: UMI Performance
Just wanted to thank the guys over at UMI.... I was having an issue with an install of an Adjustable torque arm and cross member setup I brought second hand. Turns out the cross member was for a TH 350 tranny part 2215, the guy who I brought it from second hand told me it was for a 700R4 tranny, pn 2217. The guys at UMI gave me some advice and I was able to make it work with a little tweeking. Next time I'll just buy from them direct to make sure I get the correct part. Anyway UMI torque ARM build quality and customer service is A++++++
I also have there LCARBS A+++

Yea my whole rear suspension setup is from UMI and i love it. As he said check back for the sales. I picked mine up during one of the sales and couldnt beat the prices. Great people to deal with and great products.
Re: UMI Performance
I will but I have a question first.
So let me ask Mr. UMI, non-adjustable tubular control arms #2015, are these on par with boxed/welded control arms? What makes them better(?) even though they are about $70 cheaper than boxed arms?
I'm not really in the market for adjustable control arms since they seem to be something that would not benefit my driving habits.
Thanks.

Re: UMI Performance
Never had any issues with UMI...they've always had quality stuff and fast shipping.
But - I do have a question...I'm looking into an adjustable panhard bar since my car is lowered. The rear is centered though (I measured) - But I'm also running a 3" Hooker cutback, and the stock bar is literally touching the exhaust as is. I've seen relocation pan hard brackets/bars that allow for more clearance, but none are adjustable.
I'm concerned that if I get the standard straight adjustable pan hard bar, it'll hit the pipe like the stocker...should I be concerned, or is the aftermarket bar thinner (but stronger) and that shouldn't happen??
In my case, it would seem like a relocated-adjustable bar would be perfect....

Re: UMI Performance
Which boxed/welded control arms are you referring to? Homemade or aftermarket?
In either case, 2015's are bulletproof and a great upgrade. They resist twisting and bending and also come with brand new poly bushings.

Re: UMI Performance
PHB relocation is intended for your purpose. It moves the right side mounting point lower which in turn lowers the PHB out of the way of the exhaust.
The envelope of the stock PHB and the UMI is about the same. I don't think just moving from one to the other will help.
Relocated PHB and PHB braces can hit in some cases on sharp edge bumps. If you're super low keep that in mind.

That's what concerns me...especially after paying the HUGE difference in price for the relocation PHB as compared to your regular adjustable PHB.
In the end, I want the added clearance for the exhaust, and the capability to adjust PHB length as needed to align the rear if I need to....do you sell anything like that, or is it a non-issue?
Re: UMI Performance
What I meant was the actual PHB is 1-1/2 inches in height as is the factory bar. The UMI bar isn't any skinnier than the factory bar.
If you purchase an adjustable PHB you'll be able to locate the rear side-to-side no problem. Non-adjustable is GM factory blueprint length.
The relocation kit changes the brace, not the bar. You can use the factory lower bar and our brace or vice versa.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, The relocation and stock panhard bar have the same "envelope" i.e. they are both the same length?? What if I need the adjustability to re-align the rear end after lowering?

Re: UMI Performance
Do you UMI guys have any plans to lower the price on your panhard bar relocation bracket to be more competitive? I'm looking at another supplier that has a very simular quality product (identical), and they are selling theirs at way less than half of what you are asking for one.
I like the UMI stuff a lot - and I have a lot of it already, but this particular price difference is staggering.
Not posting this to bash you guys at all. I'm not expecting any answer...just something you guys should consider. I like the service and quality I get from UMI.

I installed the torque arm relocation bracket Saturday, something that I've had waiting to do for months now. It was almost easy to do. I didn't have to extend the rear end, disconnect the torque arm, or dis-attach the tail shaft from the tranny.
Once I figured out that the two bolt/nuts holding the factory torque arm bushing bracket allowed that piece to separate from the larger part attached to the tail shaft, it all come out pretty easily. I had to unscrew the speedo cable from the tranny to get the new torque mount to slip up and in. I cut only one bolt and left the top-most bolt in place since that bolt's length prohibits it's removal to space limitations.

A new company has earned my business. They are located in Philipsburg, PA. They employ United States workers. UMI Performance provided the best first impression service I have ever had. Chris was fantastic. Ramy was just as great. I enjoyed talking with both of them about the UMI Project car, the 1985 Camaro. The experience was topped off with an invitation to tour the facility.
Based on this experience, if UMI makes it for my Z it is getting installed!
