Advance Auto House Brand: BWD?
How good are the BWD branded parts that advance auto markets?
From experience I know the Autozone duralast line is generally junk but does anyone have details on the BWD house brand? I just bought a TPS sensor from them since mine was reporting bad readings off idle, and wanted to know if It's worth keeping versus a NOS part for a 2x price tag.

Ummm, No....
BWD is Borg Warner Development, thier replacement product have been around for years. Unlike AutoZone's Duralast products thats are made by Wells inc. Unlike likes Wells, BWD has a very high strict standard of quality control. I've sold both these products in the last few years and I feel that BWD is the better brand. I barely have any of their product comeback defective other then from improper customer installs. Here are the links to both manufacturers.

I agree with fiream BWD is pretty good ,I just replaced my IAC with a bwd iac and its working just fine.....there's no need to pay 2x the price for the same quality. Never shot autozone unless it's for little things like cleaning supplies and tune up part's.

I've purchased BWD crank sensors in the past that had GM part numbers stamped on them. Hmm wonder who makes those for GM!

Funny! I cannot tell you how many times I have had that happen also on BWD parts. I have even bought parts for my old Ford truck that were "BWD" and they had factory ford numbers stamped on them. They make a huge number of the OE sensors.

I wish I could be as favorable in my opinion, I've had two BWD coils fail within a month. I'm having problems with one of their spark plug wire sets leaking voltage too, right out of the box. I hope this isn't symptomatic of another general drop in quality. It's really hard to rind any parts that aren't made-in-China junk these days.

Just like to add alot of the parts you may think they "make" they are not making. They obtain alot of NOS parts and rebadge them into their box. I found this out in the EGR Solenoid thread when I emailed them to find out why they do not "make" the EGR solenoid or EGR temp sensor. The response stated that they did make them at one time but as sales dropepd they reboxed OEM stuff.
"Actually we did make both items at one time. The part numbers were VS19 for the solenoid and either ETS1 or 2 for the temp switch. As sales dropped, we reboxed GM's parts and then they discontinued them also. You might be able to find some old stock around, but we no longer have inventory. As a fellow Camaro owner(82 Indy Pace car) I feel your pain finding parts. Good hunting."
As far as Duralast. I have disappointed with every part I have gotten with that name on it. I use to live closer to a Autozone than an Advance. Should have driven further.
Also like to add that every BWD part I have gotten has been solid.

Might want to research the date of the threads you respond to , at 8 years old this one is growing a bit moldy ....
