Stewart water pumps
Well, though I haven't bought anything from them, I'd still suggest staying away based on my experience.
Their reverse rotation stage II water pump was out of stock from Summit (Jeg's doesn't carry) and per the site was "expected" in about 3 weeks. When the 3 weeks was up, they moved the "expected" date out another 5 weeks! Obviously indicative their parts are made overseas.
Not giving up hope, I sent an email to their C/S hoping they had some in stock and would honor Summit's price - so far it has been a week and no reply.
Shouldn't be surprised I guess, their homepage references a trade show from 2006!!!
I guess Edelbrock it is...

Don't even mention Stewart and Edelbrock pumps in the same breath.

Re: Stewart water pumps
Shame you feel that way. I had a great experience with their stage 2 aluminum pump for ten years and now run a stage 1 cast iron, which works great as well.

Re: Stewart water pumps
So the general consensus is that Stewart pumps are not a quality piece?

Re: Stewart water pumps
i always thought both were good-put an edelbrock pump
on my car in '98 and it's still going strong
bearing and
seal same as used on original GM pumps. With a larger
housing and closed back impeller it pumps a little more
than stock, but no difference in cooling was noticed.

May be so, but their customer service is absent. Still haven't received a response to my email. Summit shows 5/24 shipping date... I've heard generally good things about them, but how you can be out of stock on a fairly common part for 2 months, and not answer customer emails, is beyond me.
I ended up just going with a new AC Delco piece rather than the E-brock.

Re: Stewart water pumps
Just remembered that mine was a Weiand aluminum water pump. It's lasted so far for 4+ years with no problems or noises and it's aluminum. Still looks good too after all these years. How long does an aluminum WP typically last?

For what its worth, my Stage II pump developed a leak from its weeping hole after 2 years.

Re: Stewart water pumps
No - because I work on a shop floor with way too much background noise during the 8a-5p they have hours. Regardless, if you run a business, and have an email posted for your customer service team, it should be responded to, simple as that. And to be out of stock for two months plus on a part that can't have that much volume is pretty poor.

I know this is way late but I'll post it anyway....
I actually work for Engineered Machined Products (the EMP in EMP-Stewart Components.) They have a leased off-site mail server and web site and they can't get ahold of their tech support on it. Last time I heard anything, they couldn't get any of their data/info from the company they're leasing from, so they're kind of forced to stay with them or redo everything from stratch.
Call them (906) 789-2816 and ask for Meagan Casey for orders, Mark Coyne for shipping.
I have a stage I, can't complain...But I've only put 1000 miles on since I installed it.

I run stewart pumps on all my engines, I have never had a problem with them. Super quality.

I had a Stewart water pump on my car for several years. While it operated fine, it kept chewing up belts. Turns out the offset on the pump shaft was WAY off. Pretty bad quality escape IMO.
On the other hand, I bought an Edelbrock water pump to replace that one and it's perfect. In fact, every Edelbrock part I've ever bought has been a quality part. Not many other manufacturer's I can say that about.

You should always check belt alignment with aftermarket parts, could also be you used extra thick gaskets.

Re: Stewart water pumps
When my pump went, I got a stage I. Always ran hot at idle after that. I finally switched to a autozone water pump and it ran cooler. In my case, the $30 with lifetime warranty was better then the stewart.
