has anybody else had a horrible experience with them? it took a month and an angry email to get some sun-visors and a reariew mirror. the mirror sucks but the visors are good.

a little after i ordered the visors & mirror i ordered a used dash, because the site said the didnt ship any dashes with cracks. so a month later, and as a result of the angry email, i recieve a rusted dented dash. wasnt cracked tho...

so we sent the dash back. After an angry phone call ups shows up about 2 weeks later asking for the dash. this was near christmas time, and i had ordered the dash mid nov. we told them we sent it out 2 weeks ago.
so about 2-3 weeks later we recieve and new dash, from a newer firebird (forgot to mention the other was a camaro dash, and the side window defrosters dont match.) but guess what... it has the same crack my current dash has in it. right from the windshield defroster to the center of the dash. so we called them up the day we got it, i forget what day, it was mid january, and told them we are fed up, that we just wat our money back. bascially they convinced my dad to give em one more chance. i didnt get any compensation on the cost for my order and doubt i will. but its now feb 4th and ups hasnt come to pick up the order yet, and if they dont pretty quick im gonna tell em to quit the order. and if the dash is in a condition that cant be fixed with armor-all then its going back.

i did this post to see if i was the only one that got screwed...

I ordered a hood from them and it took over two months to get here! I called everyday and evertime they would say it should be there in the next day or so. Then one time they said the original was damaged in shipping,so they sent me another one. I finally got it two months after the order. Supposedly, a couple other people I was corresponding with had the same problem.

From what I have seen ad heard they wont be around too much longer.and the bad thing is we need these places and will even more in the future.I ordered two things from them and got them quick.but I havnt got a single reply to any e-mails I have ever sent them.I just ordered parking lights and hope they get here soon.more then likely my last order from them.also to be my "one stop shop"they will have to not match others prices, they will have to beat them.I will order a $20 emblem from the company with the good rep(classic industries) if the prices are the same.

I'm sure glad I'm not the only one with a bad experience with these jokers. I ordered the white gauge faceplates and waited 5 weeks when they told me it would take 3-4 days then they double charged my credit card adding insult to injury. Ignored my 6 long distance calles and 3 emails. When I finally talked to a person I expressed how hard they are to contact and he laghed at me! I am still waiting for my credit card to be cleared up.

hey, i've never really dealt with third gen resource except to see what they have. i wasn't impressed, so i went to thirdgenparts.com. they were great! i've dealt with them a lot now, and never have i gotten a damaged part or been disappointed with what was shipped. as far as their shipping goes, i heard about one guy that when he ordered fuel lines and ups wouldn't ship, the guy at thirdgenparts drove it up from tampa, florida to savannah, georgia and delivered it personally. that's my kind of business!

I'm with this guy.. same thing happened with my hood.

Took over a month to get it.. Repeatedly emailed them asking where my hood was.. once I got a reply that siaid they would find out for me.. never heard a damn thing back from them. Waited about 2 more weeks... getting more and more pissed... finally got it...

To hell with Third Gen Resource. Not happy at all with them. I'm sticking with Thirdgenparts.com

I'm not gonna go into detail, but I've placed 2orders with them and had 2 problems. I met them and they're very nice people. I just don't think they can handle the amount of business they get, not that makes it right...

I called up and talked to Stacy about 2 weeks ago. I ordered GTA back seats and door panels to match GTA fronts I had gotten from ebay - they're all going into the chicken. I called up on Monday just asking how the order was going as I had expected the parts already - I was told they were shipping out that day.
Yesterday I got 2 huge boxes from the UPS man. I'm happy.
Stacy said they're still in the process of moving their operation to a new location. Business growing pains I guess.

growing pains?Since my last post I gave them one more shot, and I must say, camaros and firebirds may be thier thing, but they should leave the selling part to people who can handle it.come on,its not like what they do is so hard.Dont start a buissness until your sure you can run it.After all they did contact me first by getting my e-mail from this website, and thirdgenparts didnt even do that.Get with or close the doors.

THIRDGEN RESOURCE SUX!!!!!!!!!! I ordered a steering column from them and received a piece of sh*t column. Pieces were missing off of it. It was cracked and covered in grease. The car they took it out of must have had 200K miles on it. The internal turn signal switch does not work properly and there is a large crack on the bottom of the column. It took them over two weeks to get this piece out to me. Roy told me that he didn't want to sell the exact steering column for my car because it was in a car that is still operational. He must be a cheap bastard. They can't run a business at all. It also took them several emails and a dozen phone calls to get the order correct. I HATE THESE PEOPLE!!!! I also ordered emblems and a tial light from them.....completely scratched and beat up. They also charged me expensive prices. I could have got brand new emblems for another $20. They must have a 12 year old supplied with a monkey wrench removing their parts from the yard!! I WILL NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN!! I hope you guys do the same.

I've always had good experiences with them. I will suggest one thing to all of you-READ THE ORDER FORM ON THEIR WEBSITE! It asks if you need the part quickly. Also,if they are getting an ASCD hood for you then you must realize that they are the middle man in this situation. If ASCD has no hoods then they can't get them. I know that ASCD will sit on an order until the entire order can be filled and not just send part of it and look who is getting blasted for it-Thirdgen Resource. It's not their fault for problems with the source company. And as for used parts-I'd rather wait and get a part I can use instead of getting a cracked steering column or dash or perhaps a bent wheel or anything like that instead of fast delivery of something I can't use. Remember that next time. They're not GM,they're just trying to help the rest of us out when we need it.

when i ordered there was no "fast delivery" box. and if a month and a 1/2 is fast then i would hate to have the slow one.

Quote Mongoose:

Well first of all, I think you need to reread what you put up there. Their in a used parts business. That means their supose to sell reuseable good parts. Not anything that is broken, cracked, and can't be cleaned up. Time should not be an issue, it shouldn't matter. Either you got the part in good working order that is great looking or you don't have the part. If you don't got a part in good working order, then you don't sell it. They have brought all these bad replys about the parts all on themself. Good rule of thumb is you don't sell a part that you wouldn't put in your own car.

Read the "Policies" page on their website concerning "quick delivery" and everything else for that matter.

i agree with dacuma. its idiocy to send a crappy part. it will just get sent back. this place blows hardcore, and its not my fault. mongoose must work for em or something. because im not sure why he would defend acompany that there have been so many bad orders with. they slippin ya a quick hundred? maybe a brand new ASCD big block hood? its apparent that you like this company. but me and a stupidly high number of people havent had a good expierence. regardless of "fast delivery"

if i could have fixed either dash i had recieved, I WOULD HAVE! it would have much easier than to pay extra (still havent been payed back) to send them back thier sh!tty dash. i really dont care who or who dosent like this company. i couldnt give a rat a$$ if i tried. i only know that i will never use this place again, and i will tell people of my impression of them. which obviously isnt a good one.

Well I'm sorry that you all have had bad experiences with them. I'm also sorry that others that have had good experiences won't speak up about them. Like I said I've had several good experiences with them and look forward to many more.

I've only ordered from them once and everything went well. I ordered the wrong center caps for Iroc wheels and even broke one trying to make it fit..stupid I know. They just let me pay to replace one and sent the others back within a week.

No I don't work for them.

I just received another steering column from http://www.Thirdgenparts.com and everything looks good, much better than what Thirdgenresource sent me. It's in very good shape. It only took 2 days to get here. I'll let you know what happens with it. No broken parts at all. Rating from 1-10, 10 being the best, I give it a 9. They saw my original post and felt that they could help out, and they did. Much better than ThirdGenResource.

Thirdgenparts.com sound like a bunch of nice guys. That was nice of them to send you a steering column.

Thirdgenresource.com however, are out to rip us off!

I ordered a Z-28 grille from their website and didn't get it for awhile, so I called and asked them about 3 times and dropped a ton of emails, end never-ever got a reply. So I went to Bruce Hawkins of Hawks third gen parts, and he took excellent care of me and gave me a great price. So I just said to heck with thirdgen resource, and went with Bruce. If you need any thirdgen parts he can get them for you and is just an excellent person to deal with.

On the subject of "fast delivery time" I don't care what it says in the small print if I am told somthing will take 3-4 days, well then that is what I expect. Not the 3-4 weeks it actually took. Annnndddd they would do themselves and us a great service just to return phone calls and emails! When I ordered a brake light from Custolight they emailed me to tell me of a 1 day delay!!!

I just placed a $200 order with them and they are not answering the phone or my emails. The last email it almost sounded like they have never heard of the order!!!!! I am pissed this is the 2nd time I have used them and the first was good but this sucks. I don't think I will use them again unless they got something I really want!

Terrible Service!
Took OVER 2 months for my ASCD hood to get to me. Ri-FU*KING-DICULOUS! They didnt even seem to know about my order over the phone when i called. And i never got an email returned. It took an email threatning legal action to get my hood. I will NEVER do business with them again. Horrible experience. Shipping took 4 times longer than they said. I will eat dog sh*t before i buy from them again.

I wonder if they ever look at the boards? How beneficial do y'all think it would be if we emailed them a link to this thread? So they could at least attempt to defend themselves.

We make every effort to correct orders and damages when we know about them. It seems that some customers trash us first and then call us about the problem with their order. Then when the problem is resolved they never post the probelm being corrected. The dash pad was shipped out in perfect condition but it appears UPS played tackle with it. It serves us no purpose to send out back parts. All that will do is **** off customers who will never purchase from us again and post messages. What good does that do us.
The hoods where being offered as a group purchase. We took orders for a month and then ordered them. We had so many orders that allot of the hood where put on back order. We did not anticipate the response we got. Again, sometimes things get out of hand and customers get upset. We no long do group purchases because of this. It is hard to know just how many will participate in a group purchase.
As far as the steering column goes. Well, i did sale Joe a column out of an 88 GTA. When i spoke to Joe I told him I had one but it was still in the car. When I pulled it out we notice the trim was cracked. I called him several times with no return phone calls. We did not want to send him a column with a crack in it. When I finally spoke to him he was under standing. Joe said to send it anyway. We even cut the price in half and sent some additional parts.

Well, after reading this post we called Joe and he said everything was fine with the steering column and he was happy. When we confronted him with this post he said his buddy posted it. I guess his buddy has the same name. Again, if Joe would have called us and said he was unhappy we would have done our best to make him happy. What else can we.

I have not had any problems with them and I have purchased from them a couple of times. I ordered a set of used seats and they came in the condition described and I was very pleased with them. I would order from them again!

OK, obviously there have been some problems with Thirdgen Resource. Some people have had good service, others bad. It is apparent to me that they are trying to remedy the problems just by the fact that they are now here on the board. It may just be damage control but it is a start. I'm closing this topic for now, but if it needs to be brought up again, that's fine. Just keep the name calling to a minimum.
