Camaro Central gets an F, RPUI gets an A+
I was looking for a pair of door panels for my 82 Pace Car project. I emailed CC to see if they had them in stock. Their answer, "we don't have a live inventory on our computer, order them and we'll check to see if we have them"
Sounds like the play that OPGI uses to get your cash and hold it hostage. So I called up Restoration Parts Unlimited, apparently now you can buy direct from the manufacturer. The pleasant lady I spoke with checked and verified that they indeed had a pair of pre-assembled front door panels in stock, would ship them free (with a $15 UPS oversize fee) and that there was a coupon on them to save another 72 bucks. Told her to take my money! LOL
Ordered them on a Thursday at noon, they were on my doorstep Saturday at 1pm.
I emailed CC to tell the guy that he needed to learn some Customer Rep skills. Told him that HE should have been the live inventory checker, get off his lazy behind and walk out and check to see if they had any stock. If no, he could have called RPUI and checked with them, then let me know inventory status. His loss, my savings.

This happens up here all the time. tdot.ca is brutal for this. Their site shows in stock. I call to have them actually confirm what I'm looking for is indeed in stock only to get an email after ordering saying they expect to ship in 45 days. Happened more than once. I'll never use them again. Most of these companies are just drop ship setups. No inventory on hand and their reps no nothing about what they sell. I do miss the days when there was a speed shop staffed by gear heads. Back in March I called the local parts store looking for a t-stat gasket for a small block chevy. They asked for what car. I said it's a small block chevy...the car is irrelevant. I then said it's a Firebird. Who makes that?...was the replay. Sad times indeed.
