I for one pray they bring it out.

Would be nice to have as an alternative to the stealthram and avoid a lot of the clearance issues associatted with it since I have all Birds.

Their designs for the 5.0 is very good and hope that it translates to the TPI engines as well.

I have hated the @#^%^@&&&@#$# SuperRam since the early 90's when it came out. The stock TPI is a pia already, I dont want another one :-) I wont argue with the results, but as far as working on anything after that, I dont like it much.

I called and talked to them about a month ago, the guy I talked to did'nt even know about it. After checking around he said it would be around the end of the year. I guess they had'nt even started on it yet. hopefully it clears a stb.

Did BBK ever have the prototype at SEMA or something? Anyone have pics of the prototype version?

BBK sucks at poting stuff early. I have a 01 mustang an they have supposedly been working on an inake for it too. It was supposed to be a SEMA as well.

It was a no show. I don't understad why they bother putting info up if it is 1 year away.

i just called, talked to a veyr nice sounding lady. she wasn't very tech savy as most their operators are.

But she said, she handl;ed a call like this a week ago, and does know for sure its in developement. A test car was brought in a few weeks ago for a cast/prototype to be made.

She said we should expect design photos within a couple months and a release in about 6 months maybe.

Sorry guys, early 2005 my butt.

Nothing unusal time wise. All these projects seem to take longer than estimated. Look at the nine bolt rear cover but it is now a reality. Allen

They will probably start working on the TPI intake when they are done with the 5.0 intake, which is still being finialized.

I talked to John in tech @ bbk yesterday. He said he has seen the castings of the new tpi manifold and that it will be similar to factory tpi, consisting of base/runners/plenum. He did'nt have any info on total runner length other than they'll be shorter and bigger around. And for a release date? dunno.

yeah all this got me very excited cuz superram was expensive and long tube TPI setups dont quite get it done.... HSR wasnt smog legal and miniram too, so this left BBK

but now i have bought a superram base manifold since i couldnt pass it up.....

i think i will just keep the big tube TPI setup going for now, untill i make a new motor for serious street

wow, if someone was so lucky to have the tooling at there disposal they could make one HUGE dent in the port FI market for street sbc powered cars!

I know that the f and y body market may seem small and not worth making a special manifold with a egr setup for but, if you add all the other "tpi" swaps and custom street rides I think there would be a demand. look at the hsr if they had a lower lid hight and added egr ports they would be the intake of choice for epa tested street cars (simple setup, cheap and could be run on the street). they already sell butt loads as it is.

a half past NEVER..

i was the one who originally went to BBK to get info on it, back in October of 04.. i was told then... that the Manifold was done, but the problem was the fuel rails/fuelpressure regulator.. and that they were taking just the intake to SEMA for Nov. 7.. and the production date would be Jan 30 of 05 for a $399 price...

then we hear that the manifold is NOT done.. and there are other issues, and price would be $600.. blah blah blah..

i was also told at the time.. that there were 8 individual runners, a baseplate, and a plenum.. now it sounds like just a larger tube TPI system... whoopie..

im now converting my LT1 intake.. screw these guys..

Is that why summit's webpage states that it will ship 7/3? summit

You shoud go do a search on Corral.net and see what you come up with. BBK has been promising this intake since the biginning of the year.

This really sucks if the above statement ends up to be true. I think there is a huge market for a better flowing intake then stock, but something that has a EO#.

I really wanna see it know, just to see how they made the runners shorter, the plenum is just about sitting on the egr valve as it is

I was looking on the Summit Web site and I don't know what part # the intake is supposed to be but BBK 5004, BBK 5005 or BBK 5006 are all for GEN III engines, two don't ship til 7/15 the other 7/20. What is the part # supposed to be.

Probably does not have a part number as of yet because it is still in development.

not that i heard.. i was the one that 1st went over to BBK exactly a year ago... they said " oh yeah its done, we have one of our fabricators working on the new fuel rails.. blah blah blah.. and in 3 weks we are taking it to sema" they also went on to say it was using 8 individual runners and what not and the cost was 399$...

yeah well it never made it there... another guy on this board went to sema and asked the rep there about it.. they then told him it was in the ball park of 600$ + and that it was more like a 3 piece type deal..

yeah that was a year ago.. and they are still "developing" it.. ?

they suck

maybe they finished it found the runners too long and narrow. made less hp then the stock tpi and fired the guys who desighned it oops they would never do that

or maybe they pulled a holley and made there "TPI replacment" too tall to fit under the hood of the cars the tpi originally came on

well I guess I should of held back on the last comment since summit listed it as the replacment and I never checked with holley

Left a message for John earlier this week and missed him when he called back.
His message to me was that they were about as far along as the last time we had talked....... said he has seen a few prototype lowers but that was about it. I wish I could have talked to him to get a feel for their determination to bring one to market.

I went to SEMA Last year and asked a rep about the New TPI intake. He looked at me like a deer in headlights. He then proceeded to ask the sales manager, and the sales manager had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe this project is only on a need to know basis, and Brian & Ken Murphy are the only one's that know.

I'll be at SEMA in a few weeks and I'll ask again. If there is any literature, pictures or even the product itself I'll take pictures and post them.

Rise from the grave oh post....

Alright, I went to bbkperformance.com to see if they had anymore news and now it is gone. If you look at the performance intakes, the top paragraph is the only place it says anything about the TPI setup, and it just says that it is coming out.

Does anyone else have any news or has any talked to them?

Talked to the guy over on Corral that works at BBK. He said he had a cast model of the intake on his desk, but would probably be a year before anything happened. He said that the 4.6 intake they are working on is more important right now. He also said that BBK works with direct replacement stuff. So I would look for the intake to be similar to something Edelbrock offers.
