Which efi setup?
k heres my set up. 355 with dart IE 200s with comp XE274 cam 1.6rr vic jr intake 750 holley. i am interested in going with an efi set up and wasnt sure where to post this. i have been reading through this forum for the last hour now trying to figure out what the best setup for me would be. i was looking at the edelbrock proflo 3500, accell DFI and the holley commander 950 kit. now i am reading that oem might be the way to go also. can i put an LT1 setup on top of my motor? what else would any of you guys recommend me doing? i am looking for the most performance but with the most practical setup. any reccomendations?

I personally like the TPI setup. A couple other choices would be Stealthram or Superram. You probably would be better off if you went with an lt1 or miniram. The lt1 would be a lot cheaper and it would fit but you are gonna have to get the holes drilled with different angles. There is also a problem with the distributor. The Miniram would bolt on easily but it is expensive. The Superram looks nice but there is a fitment problem with the wiper motor on Firebirds. The Stealthram is kind of like a dual carb setup. It sits kind of tall so there is a fitment problem again with the Firebirds.

yea id like to know performance differences between the edelbrock pro-flo and the holley stealth ram... cuz they are about the same price and both boast about power. i really dont see a huge difference between the two power wise.
Two things to decide
1 ECM brand
2 intake design

Intake shootout
You might want to look at the First Intake thread on this board. Looks to be a good compromise between a SR & HSR for power.
Since your cam is good for in the neighbor hood of 6200 rpm, I'd stay away from the LT1 style intake unless you need to loose a little low end for traction purposes.
You might want to do a search on DIY Prom for LT1 intake to see what is involved in getting one tuned right.
( Not just close enough to live with). But you coming from the carb world as I am, are probably willing to live with more "cam characteristics" than others who grew up on efi are.
An easy way to tell with your current setup is to swap to a RPM intake and see how it drives. The HSR has the same length runners as an RPM and should run similar after tuning. The Edelbrock efi should run just like your Victor Jr since they are basically the same intake. Provided you get the tune down, you'll have better sub 3k throttle response with any of the efi intakes. The power between 3k and 4.5k is where you should see the most difference in intakes. The shorter the runner, the more power you shift from 3.5k- to 4.5k+. Just standard intake theory.
Depends on what you want. Since I have a stock cowl hood on my car, I had to think long and hard on going to a
front mount TB intake. I still flip flop on my decision and went so far as to pick up an Accel single plane intake on ebay for half of new cost. This is in addition to my HSR I'm currently working on installing. Eventually I'll test both.
Also make sure that the intake you pick will fit your heads.
Cost me $200 to get my HSR to fit my heads 1206 intake port. Would have been cheaper to swap heads if I'd known
the costs were going to exceed the expected price to fix them.

correct me if I am wrong but, I thought that was on all the older f-bodys? (up to 87) when they switched to the other wiper motor it fit

I have no idea about GM switching wiper motors.. I hope it is true because I kinda like that intake. I was thinking about getting it. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

The superram will work on any car, you just have to loosen the wiper motor and pull off 1 or 2 of the thick rubber mounts on the firewall to get some more clearance for the back corner of the intake. You only need like an inch of clearance, so that's why the rubber mounts need to come off. I took 2 off of mine and it fit ok.

Something to think about. If you still have the old engine mounts, the engine is sagging on the side the engine torques on. Try installing new poly mounts. It will raise the engine up about 1/2in an away about 1/8in - 1/4in from the wiper motor.
