Accel 58mm throttle body problem

My throttle body will not bottom out causing my car to idle high.
The spring feels good and snaps it back but not all the way. I have tried to adjust it using the nut on the throttle shaft and it still does not want to bottom out. Any help will be appreciated!

I had a problem with the TPS sensor when mounted on my Holley 58MM throttle body. The TPS sensor return spring arm was rubbing on the side of the throttle body housing causing the problem you described. I just ground a little metal off the arm and all is well. Hope your problem is as simple. Allen

Checked the TPS and it has plenty of clearance. Thanks

Any more ideas?

Have you tried any lube on the bearings on the shaft itself?

If it's pretty new, I'd give Holley a call on it.

I had the same problem as 1989GTATransAm on a Holley 52mm TB, ground down the arm like he did and it was BETTER but not totally 100% reliable to return to "closed". That's why I'm running a BBK throttle body now....

Try disconnecting the throttle cable and see of the problem goes away. The cable may be binding somewhere or the stop may need to be adjusted at the pedal.

Would you say that the BBK flows as well as the Holley? I only ask because I noticed the difference in design of the area between the bores... I currently still have the stock TB with a TPIS air foil and want to upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

I think the BBk worksmanship is better, and it flows great. But my BBK is a 59, the Holley was a 52. Never like the fit/finish on the Holley.

Thanks, that's good to know... the BBKs are a bit cheaper as well (I think Holley just likes to charge extra for their name).

Does this happen all of the time or only when the throttle body is hot?

Mine did the same thing and my fix was to do a coolant bypass. Apparently the throttle body was getting too hot and either expanding the throttle blades or contracting the bores. Either way this fixed it.
