Super Ram Performance PART II
I know that a cam will give a lot more performance, but I really only want to do bolt ons. I don't have the time to take the engine out of my car to put a cam in since I drive it everyday.

Ummm..... last time I checked you could do a cam swap in the car. In fact I dropped my cam in without yanking the motor. About the only things that have to come off for a cam swap are the radiator and condensor(move it out of the way), water pump, balancer, timing cover, the intake, and the lifters (so they don't fall into the oil pan when you remove the cam.)
So don't do a cam if you don't want.

Well it would a be a ton easier to do out of the motor. But i guess I can stick it in there without pulling it out. Any cams you like that work well with a TPI setup or Superram?

ZZ9.. or if thats to expensive (399$) a lot of people like the LT4 HOT cam for $175 at SDPC2000.com
BUT.. with bigger cam you are going to need better heads OR at the very least, better springs.
the stock springs on L98 heads cant take all the much lift. lets say you get the LT4 HOT cam.. with 1.5 rockers your lift will be .492 your stock springs wont handle that.. not to mention the heads will strangle the cam's potential.
heads and cam should compliment each other, and its easier to do them both at the same time.
your real question is.. what do you want the car to do? be streetable? auto-X? drag race? when you have that answer, then others can point you in the right direction.
as for me.. i'm going to go with LT1 intake, LT4 Hot Cam, with Trickflow heads and 1.5RR. i only drag race about 2-3 times a year if that, but i like the car to handle and be streetable.
so it comes down to what is the cars function for usage?

so i would say, for price and street performance.. go LT4 HOT Cam.. BUT.. like i said.. you will HAVE TO change your springs, retainers and have the heads cut to make them fit.. but L98 heads will hold back Horse Power, so weigh your options and budget.
if you have the money, buy some new heads that will handle .550 lift.
if thats not in your budget, then save..
you will also need a custom tune for the ECM, not an over the counter or mail order chip, you'll need some one to customize it for your car.
