I need help with a new induction system.

I really don’t know where to post this question. Ok you guys I ran into a pretty big problem just a couple of days ago. I bought some after market heads, they are the Pro Toplightning part number 223400000A with an intake runner of 200cc. So I took my heads to a shop to get them built and I also took my TPI intake in to get port matched. Well they did build my heads but they told me that I could not use the TPI intake with my heads. This is not a big deal; I was just going to get a LT1 intake for it. So I wrote John at ltintake.com and he told me that the LT1 intake would not fit the ports of my new heads just like the TPI intake. My question to you guys is do any of you know of a good fuel injected induction system that I can use on my new heads that offer good flow?? Or will I have to convert to a Carburetor? Please I really need your help guys!!!!

did the manufacturer specify what intake gasket size fits these heads? if not, you'll have to find out that info, by buying or getting some gaskets to check against the head.

you probably would be OK looking into some of the single-plane type manifolds, that have larger ports than the TPI or the LT1 intake, that have bungs or machined holes for fuel injectors.

maybe a stealth-ram may fit? This is just some guidelines, I can't remember what the port sizes are for these heads, although i think i remember seeing something about them being not run-of-the-mill sizes.

maybe try a search on pro-topline and 200cc, and that may shed some light on your options.

As stated in the other forum...you can buy a pro ram, or a special PN mini ram and be set out of the box>> OR you can have additional MATL welded to the tpi or LT1 manifold and report accordingly..

Thanks a lot for your imput! I looked up the gaskets that are needed for the heads, it says for the head gasket to use Pro M2300IL 060; Manifold - Std Chev Victor Jnr #2975 - Dart Wilson. I dont know if this is the info that you needed. But once again thanks for your help

Typically if you BUY the gaskets>>>you can lay them up on the manifold>>>Line up the BOLT HOLES ONLY>>>not port holes.....

When I took my 1206 gasket and laid it up against a stock TPI base you could see daylight through the very top edge of the gasket...You could see where you had to add about 1/4" of material and then blend the port to get it to seal nicely...any GOOD machine shop can do this...Ill see if I can find pics..

My pro-ram came matched to a 1204 gasket...BUT it had tons of matl to port...So I held the gasket up to it...marked it and got the die grinder out and matched/blended the ports..

TPIS Mini ram the casting is done to a 1206 spec..

Most of your aftermarket stuff comes cut to a 1204...its just how much meat they leave you for porting.. Ill dig for some pics...

Kenwood thanks a million for your input. I picked up my heads today and found that the gasket they they were using were the fle-pro 1206 gasket the same gasket you said the mini ram uses!! So it looks like I am in luck, I just got to save a little more cash. The only thing is that the 1206 gasket starts to cover about 1/4 of an inch after the end of the port. I can always get my heads ported to match the gasket I guess!! Thanks again for your help!

JUST MAKE SURE that you ORDER the 1206 MINI ram....Its a different Part number than the standard mini ram... CALL TPIS and talk to them about it... Its a different casting..

That sounds like a 1205 gasket.
The Summit catalog lists the port deminsions of the FP gaskets. You could measure your port and compare to the listed deminsions. Not sure if they are on Summits site too.
But I'd rather look there than try and find them on FPs' site.

The Proram fits easy to a 1206. You might look at a First Intake if you want a longer runner. There is a long post on this board a few pages back. It's cheaper than going the MR route.
There are also the Edelbrock Victor EFI series intakes and I'm not sure if the Holley intake will fit a 1206.
The HSR requires welding to seal up a 1206 and really isn't a good match for that big a port. Remember to include the price of a TB when making an intake decision.
