Relocating MAP sensor for HSR
the HSR plenum doesnt have a tapped hole for the MAP sensor where/how is the best place/way to mount it with the HSR intake?

I zip tied mine to the heater line that runs vertical on the passenger side of the eng bay, used a 90 degree elbow on the underside of the plenum pointed right at the MAP sensor.

This is something that I have to straighten out on my car and I am going to see if the dealer still has the bracket for the TBI cars that mounts the MAP to the firewall.

Advice:
Just be sure to mount the MAP sensors with the nipple down, and that all tubing from it to the manifold goes downward (drains into the manifold). Fuel or water will condense in the tube, and eventually cause problems.
Use as stiff of a hose as possible - look in a junkyard for a factory car with a remote MAP sensor, you'll see what I mean. A colapsing hose will cause all sorts of confusion.
Also try for as short as possible.

How hard would it be to drill and tap the plenum to mount the MAP LT1 style directly into the plenum with a grommet or something?

Not hard (never done it - make sure the depth of the metal you're drilling is enough). But location is a little critical. The pressure pulses in the manifold are quite strong when looking at a map voltage with an oscilloscope, on a direct mount MAP sensor. Don't go too close to any runner openings. There's MAP sensors that are the same style as 90-92 tpi's that have the grommet on the nipple already.
When I installed my HSR on my truck I just mounted it on the firewall directly behind the driver side of the plenum. I didn't have to use a bracket, you can just use the two holes on each side of the sensor, just don't clamp over the center portion of it between the attaching holes.
RednGold is right about the angle it is mounted. It is best to mount it with the port facing down, but that usually isnt ideal in a lot of locations and it will be fine if the port is horizontal. Just do not place it with the port facing up. And as said, it is best when not mounting it with the port facing down to have the sensor it self mounted higher than the port in the plenum.
As far as hose goes, just try to stay under 12" and it should read accurately.

I'd like to get rid of all unneccesary wires/hoses in the engine bay. When I pull it later this year I'm going to try run all the wires up the back of the block or through the frame rails or down the inside of the fenders. If I can get the MAP sensor mounted directly to the plenum that would definately help. Does anyone have close up shots of the lt1 manifold back where the MAP plugs in?
Lower Rt side of pic on top of plenum is where it goes.
You might want to get an LT1 map sensor and have a look at it to get a better idea.
Unless you have the clearance on top of the HSR plenum.
A small 90 deg adapter welded to the plenum on the back side might be a cleaner route when using an LT1 MAP sensor.
Wish I had a tig......

The lt1 sensor and the l98-lb9 are the same ones.....
That helps though. I wonder what grommit or whatever is used...?
I looked while at work today (Schmucks) Neihoff part #fe-1602 for both 91 lb9 and 95 lt1.
