ive ran into some problems with my water neck and HSR....

one water neck is angled right into my alternator (stock 1991 sepr alt and ps pump bracket)

another one is too tall (both of these are too big for my rad hose too...both have same O.D.)

and it looks like the stock tpi water neck (that i would have to polish ) wont line up correctly either. it looks like the bolt holes on the HSR intake for the housing will make the TPI water neck sit at an angle and not straight out like factory

Will the stock TPI thermostat housing work on the HSR??

any other suggestions or help??

you will need a early chevy styl waterneck that will point almost right at the alternator and a new radiator hose there is a bracket that came on the cars from the factory to hold the hose away from the belt but usually they get pitched I had to use it as my belt was grinding on my upper rad hose and cutting into the side of it

well i have a couple early style water necks and they will not work. there is absolutly no way to get the rad hose attached to the waterneck because it is too close to the alt (plus it will interfere).

One part number listed at stealthram.com is the Mr. Gasket water neck #2661 (it's chrome). It even comes with the 2 bolts since they're different lengths. There's also a certain upper radiator hose to buy since the water neck diameter is 1 1/2" instead of the TPI's 1 1/4" diameter. An article in Chevy High Performance from June 2003 lists all of parts required for a HSR swap, and it's been posted other places on the internet.

Mine was really close too Theres this support thing that origionally came on thirdgens that holds the hose away mine wasent on my car when I got it but luckily it was in with the parts I was given with it but most the cars I have seen have had theres pitched you'll probably need to find or make one

I've had issues with my Mr. Gasket waterneck and supposedly others have as well. It seems that they warp a little and leak a small amount of coolant. It's not much but it does give the engine that coolant smell after a fair amount of driving.

I am using the mr gasket chrome neck with a 85 305 carbed upper hose. No problems with mine. Heck, if you wanna come by and check mine out let me know!

Make sure you get a hose for a 305 carb car, like a 84 or 85, it worked with just a little bit of triming off the rad side. I think I cut about an inch or two off.

I think that the stock TBI waterhose will fit.

thats the same water neck that came on my camaro when i bought it. It's the TBI water neck. Yes the car was a TBI then a 454TBI (just the thottle body not the motor) now the my current setup which should have been my first choice the HSR. But that a nice 383 also with 6.0 long rods hehe.

well it turned out a rad hose from a carbed car (i think i told them 85) cleared and it also has the waterneck end expanded so i can use my aftermarket rad and the mr gasket water neck. i dont have to worry about the belt since i dont have any pass side acc.
