Lt1 intake conversion question

My old tpi intake had a Intake air temp sensor that was on the bottom of the intake where would i install one on my Lt1 intake? Also would i use a tpi or lt1 intake air temp sensor?

You have to drill and tap one of the vac ports to 3/8" NPT.
I usually pic the lower one on the passengers side.
Use the sensor for a 91 tpi since that is the sensor your chip is programed for.

alright i guess that is what i will have to do. what size is the vacuum port already? i bolted on the intake already and i really dont want to have to pull it all back apart being so close to start up/break in.

hmm i just remebered seeing a thread a while back that you could put the IAT sensor in front of the throttle body in the airstream.

never thought of re-tapping one of the many useless vac ports for the iat, so i upgraded to an open element (faster response time) and will be installing it before the maf.

btw you always lived in bloomington IL z69?? if so i never noticed it lol

Nope, Just got to Bloomington (area) last week.

A MAF car doesn't use the MAT sensor much. Just for egr... which is turned off for a Lt1 intake swap.
A SD car on the other hand....
If you move the sensor on a SD car or swap it to an open element style messes with the calibration. There's been much discussion on this topic.
I'm in the camp of use the stock sensor in the stock location or you'll just make more work for yourself. GM put it there for a reason.
That's why I tap all my intakes. Just in case a SD swap comes along in the future for that intake.

good points for people who do not have access to prom burners.

i have access to one so if i swap to speed density i wont have a problem with calibration.

btw, welcome to central IL.
