Torquer2 to EFI

Was wondering if any one thought of welding some bungs onto one of these manifolds? I currentyl have one on my car and want to switch to a single plane EFI setup and thought this could be a cool project.. Any advice??

Yeah....

Forget it.

Working on one of those pieces of crap is like putting lipstick on a pig.

Installing injector bungs is pretty easy, as far as that goes; but there's more to it than that. You gotta have some kind of way to attach fuel rails too, for example. Meanwhile, the manifold casting is just about the LEAST IMPORTANT PART of a FI conversion.

Throw that old junk away and get a decent manifold, if you're just dead set on converting something. Or, if you want that style of FI, buy one already built.

You'll find that by the time you do a complete FI conversion, with the TB, air intake, wiring, computer, sensors, fuel rails, fuel pump, regulator, fuel lines, injectors, ..... the chunk of aluminum might turn out to be the SINGLE CHEEEEEPEST PIECE out of the entire deal. No sense in crippling yourself from the get-go by glomming all that EXPENSIVE stuff onto some inferior obsolete outdated POS that wasn't even competitive when it was brand new, thinking you're going to "save" a couple of coins that way on a job that's going to cost a couple thousand dollars by the time it's done. That casting isn't where the money is. Kind of like building a motor: you want a good motor, the VERY CHEEEEPEST PART of it, is the core. It makes no sense to build your entire project on top of a flawed foundation.

Even if you want to run a carb, GET RID OF that worthless pile of crap. A Performer RPM will run circles around it.

Re: Torquer2 to EFI

Get one of those pre converted single plane manifolds. Dont bother with dual plane ones because the runners arnt all the same height. All the injectors have to be level. Plus, the manifolds are not as tall, so the airfilter will not sit high enough to clear the fuel rails.
