Re: Got my custom cam for a 383 HSR
I would really like to see 400rwhp...really.
But 380rwhp would still be quite nice, especially if peaking at 6100 like you suggested.

i dont think it will happen thru the stock air box/MAF. This car really feels sluggish at high rpms, as its trying to get air and i'm thinking i'm just restricting the hell out of it
i gotta order a battery relocation kit and get a custom CAI in there

Re: Got my custom cam for a 383 HSR
descreened but even then its suppose to flow like 700 cfm. i dont think thats enough considering my TB flows 1000. I think this motor wants more air so i'm eventualy gonna build a 3.5" air intake system and custom 3.5" maf sensor using stock internals and 3.5" tubing like DOC has done here on this site
else maybe buy a bigger MAF that will work and/or translator if necessary. I'm not sure yet
i'm gonna go play with WOT tuning tonight and see if anything improves, then hit the track tomorrow night to see how it runs. Going by feel i think this car will be mid high 12's at 110 or so. maybe even slower haha it doesnt feel that great at all so far

Ahh yes, the "Mega MAF." While cheaper, I like the idea of using a factory replacable MAF (better parts supply) and a translator, but I don't know the total cost on that either.
I'm glad we'll get to see how this ported HSR runs on a good flowing motor with the stock MAF though.

Re: Got my custom cam for a 383 HSR
I've seen some pretty fast cars that still run a stck size MAF. If you go to the link on my web page, you will see info about my Buddies Vette. Bowtye8. He went low 11's on motor (383) with a stock size MAF.
Both of us run aggressive ignition timing 37-38 degrees total. You may want to play with that.
Good luck at the track!

heading out now... i dont expect to be fast since its 86 degrees but we'll see. I hope to get it close to dialed in WOT tuning wise

Sounds like we might get some initial dyno results soon.

Re: Got my custom cam for a 383 HSR
dyno'd the motor
best i got was 392 at 6250 rpm but the motor was running very hot at 205 degrees on that run
best torque was 371 at 4000 on a different run but no changes were made to the midrange numbers on the last run which made the higher hp. but its over 350 from like 3700-5000 rpms. Very very flat. Heat probly killed torque on the last run
Not bad but i really do believe the stock TPI intake/MAF setup is hurting it
