LT1 Intake Conversion Question
LT1 Intake Conversion Question
I'm going to be doing an L98 to LT1 intake conversion on my '88 Corvette as well as a swap from the L98 to a ZZ4. My question is besides all the mods to make the intake work do I just reuse my stock maf sensor and air filter?

Re: LT1 Intake Conversion Question
Nope. I'd recommend staying with the stock TB that came on the car.

Re: LT1 Intake Conversion Question
AFAIK the TBs are essentially the same.... same size, TPS works the same, etc.
The only real difference is the linkage; which a 94-up LT1 TB might not even have the TV cable provisions, and so might not work at all. If there's not some compelling reason to switch because of other issues with it, then like Chris said, stick with the one that came with the car.
As far as the MAF and all that, none of that cares what the shape of the aluminum behind it is; all it's doing, is telling the ECM how many air molecules have come in lately, so that it knows how many gasoline molecules to add.

Re: LT1 Intake Conversion Question
yeah it will bolt up. I'm assuming your talking about removing the stock TPi rails and injectors?
you can take off all the plenum/runners stuff. unbolt the rails from the base manifold. then pull up on the rail/injectors till they pop out of the base manifold. Pull up on each corner to remove the injectors pairs at a time.
Once thats off, you have to move the c-clip things that hold the injectors to the rail, then the injectors will come right out.
You can reuse everything else. All the sensors and such. MAT sensor you can drill/tap a hole in the side of the manifold in one of the extra vacuum ports and mount it there. CTS you stick in the remote thermostat housing you will need. Drill/tap extra hole for that and run extra length wires if so needed

Re: LT1 Intake Conversion Question
oh well they should just be unbolted at the 4 bolts holding them down and the injectors will pop out the same way when you pull up on them
