Just installed stealth ram
Hey everyone, I just want to let everyone know my personal experience with the stealth ram..
Installation was easy other than the 1000 miscelaneous parts i had to purchase here and there. I have a 305 .030 over (310), zz4 cam, roller tip rockers, hooker headers, 3" exhaust ypipe and all, spiral flow muffler 4in/out adapted, !cats, !ac, !smog. T5 tranny, 3:70 9 bolt... Along with the stealth ram i added 22lb injectors and i have not yet changed that in the chip. Timing is about 9 or 10 btdc(timing light broke around there). I am currently using the non adjustable fuel pressure regulator which holley claims to be 43psi.
I can tell you this much as for the "major torque loss myth", I can barely tell a loss, BARELY. The tires still light up vigorously with a 2000 rpm punch.
However anything i lost down low is more than made up for in the top end. The engine no longer loses steam after 5k rpms. It delivers a smooth consistent pull all the way to 5700rpm (where i previously set my rev limiter). I know it will pull much past but im not risking my bottom end.
I am more than satisfied even counting all of the extra parts and time i had to spend to get it all together. I HIGHLY recommend this intake to anyone with a 305.
I have all tuning equipment and wideband o2. I am just waiting to get an o2 bung welded in so i can begin tuning.

Well, the torque loss isn't a myth, it's physics. It's the ole thumb over the hose analogy. But it's not like it's always a bad thing, and it's not like the HSR is the only intake suffer torque loss. And honestly it's not really that it has LESS torque, it's more that the TPI has MORE torque. (on average). The debate comes into play when you trade RPM's down low for RPM's up high, but yet never actually USE those upper range RPM's unless you're racing, where as you ALWAYS use those lower RPM's in everyday driving.
It's matter of driving style, intended use, and personal preference. No right or wrong answer. I think the HSR is a great intake, and if I didn't LOVE the appearance of the stock TPI, I'd run an HSR myself.
Glad you like it!!!!!!!!

I love the look of my polished tpi when I had it.. and the insane low end torque grunt but ..that grunt always ended so fast and left me wanting more..mashing down on the gas pedal lol.I didnt feel like going to great lengths to hog the tpi out to extremely flow uptop either and for the price of the hsr used I cant beat the performance potential it created without even being ported yet.
Now that my torque is a more flat curve and upper rpm hp is upto the task..I might not have as much of a snap off the line but knowing that the car is flying and still peeling rubber is great.Even cruising on the highway..I glance down and dont relaise how fast im going

Thats the thing about TPI, its a peaky torque curve. below 2800 or so it makes so-so torque and above 3600 its torque starts falling off alot. Between 2800-3400 it makes a good deal of torque.
HSR gets the advantage by gaining torque below 2800, losing peak torque in the 2800-3400 range, but gaining more again after 3600. Its a flatter curve for more acceleration over the entire rpm range.
Glad to hear its working fine on a 305 with zz4 cam. Thats a nice setup. Cant wait to see how it runs once all tuned. I want to start a 305 build for a fun driver. Just something to toy with and then sell off.
